Proposal plans go pear-shaped Cassie is buzzing with nerves as she quietly lines up a romantic surprise for Steve, with Tim unknowingly steering him towards Victoria Gardens like a helpful cupid. But just as Cassie’s big moment inches closer, disaster strikes. Steve’s phone rings – and with it comes heartbreaking news. His dad Jim McDonald has died. Any thoughts of romance are instantly shelved as Cassie wraps Steve in a tight hug, putting rings firmly back in their box. Later, at the Rovers, the mood is somber as glasses are raised to Jim’s memory. But eagle-eyed Tracy notices something doesn’t quite add up – Cassie’s dressed to the nines, and when she spots her slipping something into Mary’s pocket, her suspicion levels skyrocket. Is Tracy about to crack the case of the almost-proposal? Meanwhile, Steve crumbles into Tim’s arms, grief finally spilling over. Lisa gives chase and soon learns the tot is Connie – daughter of Rob and Mandy – dumped in their care while her gran heads into hospital. Lisa points out that Connie is family and without them she could end up in care, but Carla isn’t exactly feeling maternal. She flat-out refuses… at first. But as the baby gurgles away and reality sinks in, could Carla’s icy resolve begin to thaw? 3. George battles the keyboard warriors At the undertakers, George’s confidence takes a nosedive when he’s hit with a wave of suspicious one-star online reviews. It doesn’t take long for him to twig that Annie’s behind the digital sabotage. While George despairs that his reputation is circling the drain, Glenda leaps into action, furiously tapping out glowing five-star reviews in damage-control mode.
