While the Slater drama dominated much of the episode, Zoe wasn’t the only suspicious one – no, Anthony had developed some of his own, over Howie. After witnessing Howie’s proposal, he was out for answers, and begun digging for dirt on his rival.

What answers will Anthony find?

Meanwhile, Lauren desperately tried to hide her shameful secret from Peter, while Harry stole money to take drugs again.

Here’s everything else that happened in EastEnders tonight.

Howie popped the question

With Kim still smarting from losing her career as the Kimfluencer, Howie was feeling the pressure. He looked at the ring he’d stolen from Penny’s delivery, just as Patrick entered, assuming that he was planning a Christmas proposal.

As he plotted his next move, Howie ran into Alfie at the cafe. Under Alfie’s advice, he decided to pop the question after all. Meanwhile, at the surgery, Anthony filled Penny in on a missing prescription. She responded by telling him that the ring she’d ordered online had also gone missing.

Enlisting Anthony’s help, Howie staged the perfect proposal at the Christmas lights-switch on, dropping down on one knee in full view of the Square. Howie’s proposal rang alarm bells for Anthony though, who later questioned Howie on how he’d been able to afford such an ostentatious ring.

Will Anthony find proof of Howie’s theft?

Ian covered for guilty Lauren

Peter walked in to find Ian and Lauren discussing their secret in hushed voices. He didn’t suspect a thing though, and Lauren was planning to pay back the charity by, uh, selling her own clothes.

Later, as she tried to drum up the extra cash by overcharging her customers at the car lot, Ian intercepted. He warned her not to make the situation worse, just as Peter returned home to find Lauren and Peter in another secretive conversation.

Hiding the truth, she made up a lie – telling Peter that she wanted to get Jimmy Christened. Later, at The Vic, Ian told Lauren that he was prepared to lend her the cash so that she might pay back the charity without resorting to crime.

Harry turned to drugs again

Harry had finally emerged from his room, and offered to make a chicken fajita meal for himself and his mum. He asked her for the cash to buy supplies and Nicola, setting aside her fears that he’d use it to score drugs, handed over her credit card.

Lo and behold, Harry returned home with all the supplies necessary for a slap-up chicken fajita meal. Drugs too.

And, as talk turned to Teddy’s court case – which had been pushed back – Harry slipped back to his room. When he emerged, Nicola was horrified to see he’d been using again, having funded his growing addiction with her credit card.

Anna and Freddie prepared to say goodbye

With their exit looming, Anna was keen to make things right with Gina.
