Linda and Grant grew closer

Linda was upset to discover that Johnny had been talking to Elaine about his financial worries. Not only was she hurt that he hadn’t confided in her because of their strained relationship, but Linda was also confused about why Johnny needed cash when he got a huge payout from Tim.

Elaine explained that he didn’t want to spend Tim’s money, so Linda decided to help. Grant found Linda looking down in the dumps in The Vic, and she explained what had happened. He suggested she get her hands on some cash to offer to Johnny, giving her food for thought.

Linda then decided now was the right time to sell her share of Fox & Hair and broke the news to Denise.

Later, Grant and Linda chatted in the B&B and as Linda thanked Grant for helping her decide what to do. He then confided in Linda that she wasn’t the only one with a son who didn’t want a relationship, and told her about Mark.

The pair flirted and exchanged lingering looks, leaving viewers convinced that something was going to happen between them.

5 reasons a Grant and Linda romance wouldn’t work

With romance being hinted at, fans aren’t against the idea of Grant and Linda together. However, we’re convinced it wouldn’t be a long-term romance. Here’s why…

1. Grant isn’t staying in Walford

We already know that Grant isn’t a permanent fixture in Walford. Even if romance were to blossom, it wouldn’t be a long-term thing. Linda could end up falling head over heels, only to get her heart broken down the line.

2. Linda’s struggled since Mick

Despite having some love interests since Mick, it is clear that Linda’s fragile heart will always lie with him. Although it has been a while since Mick, and Linda might be ready to move on, we’re not convinced Grant is the one to help her move on from the love of her life.

3. Grant has form

Grant has developed a habit of hooking up with someone every time he comes back to the Square. Last time he had a fling with Sharon, who he not only has a deep-rooted history with, but who also happens to be Linda’s best friend.

4. Grant should take his own advice

Instead of spending time flirting with Linda, Grant should take his own advice and work on his relationship with Mark. He told Linda today that he is sticking around until Nigel’s funeral so he can build bridges with Mark. But he doesn’t seem to be spending much time with his son so far.

5. Linda knows about Grant’s history

You don’t get to be best friends with Sharon without finding out how Grant treated her in the past. Grant was a notoriously bad partner to Sharon, so surely she has told Linda this over the years? Would Linda really want a relationship with someone who treated her best friend so badly?
