He then departed for Shetland in 2024 but we now know Nate was killed before he could even leave the village. As the families gather for Nate’s final farewells this week, everything that’s happened in the last few months is starting to seem a bit of a blur. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We’ve done a complete timeline for the events leading up to Nate’s death and beyond. Nate started an affair with Moira as soon as he arrived in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) The early years of Nate Robinson and his arrival in Emmerdale Nate was born on April 27 1991. His mother was Cara Robinson and his father Cain Dingle. But Cain never even knew Cara was pregnant, nor did he respond to any of her correspondence about their son – mainly because his mum, Faith Dingle, had intercepted it. She was trying to protect them all from racist Shadrach, who would have reacted badly to Cain having a mixed-race son. Nate arrived at Butler’s farm as a farmhand in 2019 after Moira hired him, not knowing who he was. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Although he initially shared a kiss with Rhona Goskirk, he went on to have a full-blown affair with Moira, Cain’s wife. It turned out he was doing it as revenge on Cain for abandoning him. When Faith revealed what actually happened, Nate wanted to build a relationship with his dad, but Cain told him to stay away. After some time and Nate’s persistence, however, Cain and his son did start to build a relationship. Happily ever after did not last long for Nate and Tracy (Credit: ITV) Nate and Tracy Finding love with Tracy Metcalfe, she soon fell pregnant with Nate’s baby. Things were stressful when Nate took the blame for a hit and run to protect his aunt, Belle Dingle – when actually she was being framed for it by Jamie Tate! Fortunately Nate received a suspended sentence so he didn’t miss the birth of his child. Frankie was born on February 25 2021, but despite Nate’s delight Tracy soon started to find it difficult. She was diagnosed with postnatal depression and went to a mother and baby unit for treatment. Nate tried to support her, but things became hard and he eventually ended up cheating on her. They broke up and Tracy left for a while. Nate moved on with Naomi, but that fizzled out and he reunited with Tracy. They married and were happy for about five minutes before she cheated with Nate’s uncle, Caleb Miligan. The lead up to Nate Robinson’s exit in Emmerdale After spiltting up with Tracy, Nate quit his job working for Caleb and went back to be a farmhand at Butler’s. And that’s when things went sour… We didn’t know what was wrong with Moira at that point (Credit: ITV) August 2024 – Moira kisses Nate After being offered a job in Shetland, Nate was torn. But then he decided to reunite with Tracy after all and stay in the village. Unbeknownst to everyone, Moira was suffering from a brain tumour at this time. She had a seizure and Nate caught her, but then she made a pass at him – not knowing what she was doing. Although Nate immediately pushed her away, Caleb saw the whole thing and reported back to Cain. Cain laid into Nate (Credit: ITV) September 9, 2024 – Cain punches Nate Thinking with his fists, Cain stormed over to Tug Ghyll and punched Nate to the ground. He continued to lay into him until Tracy got him to stop. Despite Nate denying the affair with Moira, Cain didn’t believe him. Neither did Tracy, who threw him out and told him they were over. This was the last time Nate was seen alive (Credit: ITV) September 9, 2024 – Nate Robinson is seen alive for the last time in Emmerdale Injured and angry, Nate stormed up to the farm to have it out with Moira. He was also going to leave alone and get out of the village for good. On the way he ran into John Sugden and told him Cain was no longer his father and he was off to Shetland. Aftermath of Nate’s Emmerdale exit Tracy supposedly got a message from her ex (Credit: ITV) September 16, 2024 – Nate’s fate ‘confirmed’ Tracy received a text message from Nate on Monday September 16, which read: “Settling in, head’s a mess, don’t call me, I’ll call you when I’m ready.” Fans were utterly convinced there was more going on with his exit, however, and would not let the matter drop. Nate did not attend Zak’s funeral (Credit: ITV) October 18, 2024 – ‘Weird’ mention gets fans talking At Zak Dingle’s funeral in October, Cain mentioned he had messaged Nate about the event, but had had no reply. Now why wouldn’t Nate even send a short reply about something so big? Fans immediately started to talk about Nate’s fate again, convinced something was off. Nate’s body discovered in Emmerdale A hand pops up as Amy fights for her life under water (Credit: ITV) February 17, 2025 – Amy finds Nate in the lake After the devastating limo lake crash saw Amy Barton fall under the ice, she saw a corpse wrapped in plastic with just a hand floating in the water. Amy sadly didn’t survive the plunge into the cold, but on her deathbed, did utter the words ‘Nate’ to husband Matty. Frustratingly, he was too grief stricken by her death to realise the significance and alert anyone. February 25, 2025 – Nate sends Frankie a birthday gift With fans knowing Nate was definitely dead, it came as a shock when he sent a birthday gift to his daughter, Frankie, later in February. We now know Tracy actually sent it in case he forgot. It was John who killed Nate… accidentally (Credit: ITV) April 10, 2025 – flashback to September 9 2024, confirming John Sugden accidentally killed Nate in Emmerdale With suspicions higher than ever, we finally find out exactly what happened to Nate in April. A flashback showed John was treating Nate for the injuries caused by Cain. But John injected him with a sedative so he could make people think he saved Nate’s life. However, Nate had a bad reaction and he died. John panicked and disposed of his body in the lake. John was worried when he overheard Cain leaving Nate another message (Credit: ITV) May 1, 2025 – John panics With Nate still missing and not answering anyone’s calls, Cain decided to go to Scotland to have it out with his son in person. He was not impressed that Nate was punishing Frankie for his mistakes. John got into a state and managed to set up a removals van to come and clear Nate’s stuff out. Cain then believed his son wanted shot of them all for good so decided not to go to Shetland after all. Belle had some concerning news about Nate (Credit: ITV) May 22, 2025 – Belle finds out the truth Despite Cain staying put, Belle had had enough and decided to travel to Shetland to track her nephew down. Only she discovered Nate had never arrived… Cain becomes the prime suspect in Nate’s murder (Credit: ITV) June 5, 2025 – Nate’s body is finally identified and Cain arrested After a body was dredged out of the lake days earlier, it was at last confirmed this was Nate Robinson. Given their fight the day he was last seen, Cain Dingle was suspect No.1 and arrested for the crime. Tracy was stitched up by John (Credit: ITV) June 11, 2025 – Tracy taken in for questioning Suspicion soon turned to Tracy for Nate’s death after his phone was found in Frankie’s play house. Viewers know John Sugden planted it there to frame her and free Cain of blame. Tracy bans the entire Dingle clan from Nate’s send-off (Credit: ITV) June 23, 2025 – Dingles banned from Nate’s funeral With the fingers of suspicion pointing between Cain and Tracy, Tracy lost the plot and sure Cain murdered her husband, banned him and all the Dingles from the funeral. Devastated Cain struggles at Nate’s memorial (Credit: ITV) July 16, 2025 – Nate’s memorial held Cain and the Dingles decided they would hold their own traditional family send-off for Nate instead. It goes ahead in the Woolpack on Wednesday July 16, but things don’t go to plan when Nate’s mum, Cara storms in accusing Cain of killing her boy. When Cain then finds out Tracy is inheriting Nate’s life insurance, Cain is convinced she is the murderer and declares he and the family are attending the funeral no matter what.
