Fans predict John Sugden is a good guy and works for the police ahead of secret reveal

As the truth about John Sugden are set to be revealed, some fans are predicting he might be a good guy after all

With Emmerdale promising the truth will finally be revealed about John Sugden in upcoming scenes, there are a lot of theories currently floating about.

Just who is the real John? There’s certainly more to him than meets the eye, but is he harbouring a dark secret? Or is he a better person than many fans seem to think?

The mystery of John Sugden

The character of John has been quite the enigma since he arrived, and he’s certainly keeping secrets from those around him.

While many seem to think John might be responsible for Nate’s death, and perhaps has killed before, not everyone thinks he’s going to be a villain.

With a secretive past, some don’t think he’s a Sugden at all, perhaps having stolen the identity of somebody else.

Others, however, are convinced they’ve figured out the truth — and perhaps he isn’t as bad as many are assuming.

Could John Sugden be undercover?

Instead, some fans think that perhaps John is actually an undercover police officer.

Back in November 2024, it was John who turned up to an illegal boxing match to let everyone know the police were on their way.

“I think John works for the police and Anthony isn’t dead. Remember last year John informed police about the illegal boxing at the farm,” said someone on social media.

Another fan insisted they’re hoping he’s a good guy after all, stating: “I like the mysterious John, could you for once make it so he ends up being a good guy?”

Another went on to suggest: “I think John is lying and I wonder if he is an undercover police officer?”

Could it be that he’s in the village to uncover some dark secrets, rather than hiding some of his own? Only time will tell…
