Jacob finally takes action against Dr Todd next week as she uses Maya against him

Dr Todd has stepped up her mind games and manipulation against Jacob in Emmerdale this week by bringing Maya Stepney into it.

Of course, Jacob has come out of it looking worse, as per Dr Todd’s plan. But he is finally set to take action against her next week and, while we might all be thinking ‘hallelujah’, it could end up making everything worse.

Jacob realised Dr Todd’s game in Emmerdale tonight as she mentioned Maya

Having swapped shifts to get away from Todd for a day, Jacob was horrified to find he’d swapped to be at the blood drive with none other than Dr Todd. It played right into her hands as it backed up her narrative that he is obsessed with her.

When she arrived at the Hide for the event, she made a point of talking to Jacob about Liam and his past relationship with Leyla.

“I’d rather not get into it,” Jacob told her.

“No, addiction, hardly something anyone would want to revisit. Along with all that unpleasant business with Maya,” Dr Todd replied. The remark made Jacob immediately uncomfortable.

She then made Jacob take blood from her and, making sure everyone was watching, had a massive reaction of pain to him inserting the needle.

Jacob was all over the place by this point and then decided to confront Todd. But when he did, she claimed she had no idea he was the student Maya had groomed and she’d simply been talking about Liam and Maya’s divorce.

Knowing Vanessa was listening Todd broke down in tears asking Jacob what he was accusing her of. She then said her dad had died that morning. Vanessa immediately took Todd’s side as Jacob felt terrible.

In the pub later Manpreet offered Jacob a listening ear. She then let slip she had in fact told Todd about him and Maya – meaning Jacob was right that she had been using that against him all along.

Jacob takes action next week

Although he’s trying to put on a brave face with Todd now living in the village as well as dealing with her at work, Jacob is finding it hard to cope. He’s also been called as a witness at Bear’s trial.

Ross can see something is up and talks things through with him. Ross advises Jacob to talk it out with Todd and soon he decides to do just that.

He goes to see his mentor and asks for a word. However it doesn’t go as he’d hoped and he ends up making a huge decision: he is going to make a formal complaint.

Jacob decides not to tell Sarah as she’s got enough going on with the impending arrival of their daughter. But he does confide in colleague Rich who insists it’s career suicide and he shouldn’t do it.

Jacob remains determined though. He heads in for his meeting with HR and his anxiety levels rise as he details the bullying and how it has made him feel.

However Dr Todd has spotted him heading in. Her face darkens and when he comes out she corners him about the meeting. Jacob finally stands up to her in person, but is he about to just make everything worse for himself?

Jacob and Maya Stepney in Emmerdale: A history

When Jacob in Emmerdale was 15 he became infatuated with his teacher Maya Stepney - who also happened to be his dad David Metcalfe's girlfriend.

Jacob started dating Liv Flaherty who was really into him. But it was just as a cover to keep his feelings for Maya a secret.

In reality, Maya was grooming Jacob. She convinced him that they were in love and that they were meant to be.

Maya and Jacob found out in Emmerdale

Maya resisted having sex with him, despite his desperate badgering. But when Jacob turned 16, the pair slept together for the first time.

Liv walked in on them having sex and blackmailed them for £10,000. But eventually she decided against taking the money and instead decided to report Maya for what she was going to Jacob. However Maya threatened her into keeping quiet.

Meanwhile Maya's relationship with David was in a state and when she caught him kissing his ex-wife Tracy, she called Jacob to meet her. They kissed, but it was witnessed by Priya, who told Leyla, Jacob's mum, and Tracy.

Together, during the Big Night Out episodes, they forced Maya into a car. She insisted Jacob had sexually assaulted her, but they knew she was lying. After she got out of the car, they tracked to a shed and she admitted to having sex with him, but said it was consensual.

Leyla chased after her and attacked her with a rock, believing she had killed her. But Maya had survived and run off to a hotel with Jacob.

Maya arrested and sent down

Maya was finally arrested for abusing Jacob and broke things off with Jacob. But he refused to accept it. It took him a while to realise that their relationship was based on Maya's manipulation and he struggled to get over it.

Maya was later jailed for exchanging inappropriate text messages with Jacob and sent down for 12 months.

In November 2019 Maya was released from prison early and was revealed to be pregnant. She gave birth at Christmas and left the baby on David's doorstep. A DNA test then confirmed David was the dad, not Jacob.
