John Sugden's next victim 'sealed' as Paddy becomes embroiled in the Emmerdale killer's web

John has no idea Paddy could be on to him, but there are fears for when he finds out

Things are not looking good for Paddy Dingle after he was revealed as the crisis volunteer counselling John Sugden in Emmerdale.

We know John will go to extreme lengths to protect his secrets, whatever the cost. So is Paddy’s time up if John figures out he’s on to him?

What happened in Emmerdale tonight?

John started to realise things weren’t going as he’d hoped when he framed Owen for Nate’s death when he went to see Cain and saw what a state he was still in. Having hoped Owen being named the killer would give Cain closure, John was disappointed. Even his carefully crafted ‘suicide’ note hadn’t made a blind bit of difference to Cain’s mood.

Liam later told John Cain didn’t have justice because there had been no trial, no explanation and no way to remember Nate properly. John was gutted his brilliant plan had not worked out how he thought it would.

Meanwhile, Robert was still intrigued by the whole thing. Especially when Moira revealed Owen had supposedly planted Nate’s phone in Frankie’s playhouse, framing Tracy.

Robert very quickly realised this was not adding up at all…

Elsewhere, Marlon was worried Paddy was isolating himself when he didn’t want to play Zombie Apocolypse again. But Paddy had other plans – and we were about to find out what.

As John knocked back the whiskey, he was having a conversation via messages with a volunteer at the crisis line. He stopped typing when they recommended a call rather than messages. And we saw who was the one helping John: Paddy!

Is Paddy John Sugden’s next victim in Emmerdale?

So this puts Paddy in the firing line, well and truly. John is opening up to the anonymous volunteer like he has no one else and if Paddy learns all the facts, that puts him in a lot of danger. A LOT.

So far, John has decided not to call and talk to Paddy. But if he does, it wouldn’t take much for the vet to recognise his voice. And then he would put two and two together and find out everything.

John is no stranger to trying to silence people – he was fully prepared to kill Aidan Moore when he woke up and knew too much.

And, despite Aaron being like a son to Paddy, we doubt John feels that strongly about him that he would spare his life. In fact, it would give him the chance to play the hero again as he comforted Aaron over Paddy’s demise.

But perhaps Paddy is too big for John to take down? We imagine if Paddy were to be leaving the soap – of which there are no rumours at all, we must add – it would be with a much bigger storyline than this. With Robert also on John’s case, perhaps he and Paddy could team up against John?

It really is about time this came to an end. However Emmerdale decides to finish it, it had better come quick – and with no harm done to Paddy!

What else happened in Emmerdale tonight?

As well and John and Paddy's drama, we had Cain laying into Liam, Charity giving Mackenzie what for and Robert taking on Kim in Emmerdale tonight

Cain's grief

Cain was still stuck in a world of grief and pain. He lashed out at Moira when she compared Nate's death to that of her daughter Holly. He just can't get over the nonsensical way Nate died.

Liam offered to take him to the allotment to get some fresh air, but Cain laid into him over letting one of his patients kill Nate. Liam insisted he had no idea Owen was dangerous.

Cain wanted more facts, but Liam wouldn't talk about a patient. Cain flipped and grabbed Liam, threatening him. Then he stormed off.

Later realising he need to apologise to everybody, Cain set about making amends.

Charity wouldn't back down in Emmerdale tonight

Charity and Mack were still at loggerheads over the surrogacy. Mackenzie forced Charity's hand in telling Noah, who was pretty blindsided by the news.

Charity later apologised to Mack, who said he was sorry about the ultimatum. She offered a reset and Mack thought she was giving up the surrogacy idea, but Charity was clear she was still doing it. Unable to get on board, Mackenzie stormed off again.

Sarah tried to offer her a way out and Charity was upset. She told Mack she would never forgive him if he didn't let her do it.

Robert played Kim

Robert was still pretending to Moira that he was going to farm Annie's Field. Meanwhile, Kim went over all her plans with Joe and he was impressed at how she'd built up all her plots of land. She is apparently going to be a very wealthy - and powerful - woman. It's about the family's future, she said.

Kim's sentimentality about the whole thing got Joe worried she was ill, but she insisted she wasn't, it just matters to her.

Robert then arrived and noting Kim's desperation to get the whole deal done, he hesitated. Despite her offering more cash, Robert decided not to sign.

Apparently Annie's Field is the lynchpin to her whole plan (still not sure what her plan is tbh!) Joe later went to see Robert and offered him another chance to go through with the sale. "Take the deal or you will regret it," Joe told him. But Robert said he wasn't scared.

Hmm, maybe he should be - if Joe and Kim call Crowley again, Robert could end up in a world of trouble!
