After Joe Tate arrived back in Emmerdale last year, he soon got his feet under the table at Home Farm and found his way into Dawn’s affections. However, the affair is now out in the open and Joe and Dawn are a bonafide couple, while Billy has been pushed aside. After suspecting Dawn was having an affair, Billy accused Ross of being the man in question. Dawn denied the affair allegations but did end her marriage to Billy. Billy was obviously one of the main suspects. But it was soon revealed that Joe’s lover Dawn was the guilty one. After Billy was arrested for the crime, Dawn gave him an alibi and the two met up to get their story straight. Billy suggested they pretend to be getting back together. He even said he should move back into Home Farm to make the story look believable. But if Billy thought he’d be able to get his family back, he was wrong. Dawn was soon back in Joe’s arms and Billy pushed aside for good. Since then, Billy’s screen time has been reduced, leaving fans concerned that he doesn’t have a place in Emmerdale any more. While there has been no official announcement regarding Billy’s future on the soap, viewers have been debating what’s next for the character. “Now that Joe and Dawn have become a legitimate couple and no longer an affair Billy boy is out of Home Farm and getting a lot less screen time. What do you think they have planned for the character? Could he be next on the chopping block?” One fan asked on Reddit. A second fan replied: “Honestly, he’s a pretty dull character and I’m surprised he’s lasted this long. I give him a pass because I think he’s hot. But even that isn’t enough to really make me invested in him. He needs a new direction, but he has no adult family, no mates. So I’m not sure what they could do with him.” Other fans suggested a love interest might help Billy. “Id like a Billy Gabby romance,” said a fan, with another adding: “Gabby definitely needs someone to be bitchy with, she’s so funny when she channels her mother.” Others think Billy should get involved with Manpreet. “Pair him with Manpreet and then have them take Dawn to court for the kids,” said one fan.
