Emmerdale fans spot sign that ‘John’s mask is slipping’

Emmerdale fans have spotted a sign that John Sugden could be soon caught out – and it’s his own fault.

The clock is ticking for John, and there are a lot of clues that his time may be running out. But now that Robert Sugden is back, fans are more desperate than ever to see the end of John.

It seems Robert’s return may just bring his downfall, as it seems John is losing control – and we all know he doesn’t like that! After his confrontation with Robert, some fans noticed that John may not be so good at hiding his secrets after all.

Since joining Emmerdale last August, John has been up to no good. He literally murdered Nate (accidentally but then he hid his body), and then he went on to cause injuries to other villagers – just so he could save them.

It’s very clear John must be suffering from a form of hero complex but he is yet to be caught out by anyone in the Emmerdale village.

When Robert returned, he very quickly realised that John was hiding something. And he knew it was going to be something huge.

During John’s prison visit to Robert, he threatened him (bad move, John), leaving Rob more and more curious as to what’s going on. So it was no surprise that when he got out of prison, he headed to the village determined to bring his half-brother down.

The pair had a heated confrontation after John blackmailed Caleb into firing Robert. And that’s when John nearly caught himself out.

Fans noticed that for the first time, John didn’t deny having a secret, he just said that Robert wouldn’t tell Aaron.

John to be found out because of his own fault

Robert told John: “I’m going to make sure Aaron sees you for the type of man you really are.” And instead of denying that he had anything to hide, John responded: “No you will not.”

And that clearly indicates to Robert that he is right about him.

Taking to X, fans pointed out the telling sign. One wrote: “The fact that John didn’t even try to play dumb about ‘the type of man’ he is. His mask is slipping and it’s slipping fast. Are things finally starting to get interesting?”

Another fan added: “John didn’t deny anything. Robert clearly knows he is hiding something now.”

Whether or not Robert is the one to bring John down is still unknown. But actor Ryan Hawley has expressed that he would like to be the one to cause his downfall. 

And we would like to see that, too!
