A complete list of everyone John Sugden has saved – and which life-threatening situations he’s actually caused
He’s saved lives all over the village! But how many people has he put in danger?
John Sugden in Emmerdale has revealed his secret and we are gripped. He’s a medic who saves people’s lives from dangerous situations. That he just happens to have caused.
It’s thrilling stuff! So we thought before things really ramp up, it was time for a quick recap of everyone John’s saved – and all the life-threatening situations he’s to blame for!

Aaron Dingle
When the unlicensed boxing bout got revealed to the police things got a bit chaotic. Aaron confronted one of ringleader Jade’s goons and got a punch in the chest for his trouble. The punch caused Aaron’s lung to collapse.
But luckily, John was on hand to step in and save his life. He performed emergency surgery on Aaron with a Biro!
Was John Sugden to blame for Aaron’s injury in Emmerdale?
This time, John wasn’t to blame. At least, not directly. He did, though, call the police on the boxers and he must have known that the illegal bout would end in chaos. Perhaps he hoped he’d get a chance to play the hero.

Moira Dingle
Moira was in a bad way when Cain rescued her from the barn fire. She was out cold and things looked bleak until John took over. He got Moira breathing again and saved her life – much to Cain’s relief.
Ruby Fox Miligan and Mackenzie Boyd
Ruby was trapped in the barn when it caught light. Mack and John bravely went into the flames to get her out. As a burning beam dropped it almost hit Mack – except John dragged him out of the way. Another life saved to add to his tally! John managed to get Ruby to stay away throughout and carried her out of the flames like a proper hero.
Was John Sugden to blame for the barn fire in Emmerdale?
Definitely not! This time it was Moira’s brain tumour and her own erratic behaviour that led to the fire in the barn that almost killed her and Ruby, not to mention Mack and John.

Eric Pollard
John’s got a good job at the surgery now and it’s all thanks to Pollard. When grumpy Eric’s health took a turn for the worse back in the autumn, he was determined to carry on as normal. But then he started having chest pains.
Luckily, John recognised the signs of an oncoming angina attack. He took Eric’s blood pressure then gave him treatment to prevent the attack. And he got the offer of a job as thanks!
Was John Sugden to blame for Eric’s heart problems?
Sinister as we now know John to be, we can’t blame him for this one!

Nate Robinson
We KNEW Nate wouldn’t slope off to Shetland without a backwards glance! We knew it! And admittedly we were convinced when he messaged Tracy and told her he’d arrived, but we still weren’t surprised when his body showed up as Amy plunged beneath the frozen lake.
Anyway, now we know that John killed him! Accidentally, but still. John injected Nate with something, that he then planned to reverse – except he was too late. Nate died before he could give him the treatment and claim credit for the save.
Was John to blame for Nate’s death in Emmerdale?
Abso-blooming-lutely he was! Nate may have been in pain after Cain’s beating, but if it hadn’t been for John jabbing him with a syringe, he’d be living it up in Shetland.

Jacob Gallagher
On Thursday (April 10) Jacob suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction to nuts after drinking the wrong coffee. As Jacob struggled for breath and lost consciousness, a frantic Victoria searched through his bag for his epi-pen, only to find it gone.
But luckily, paramedic John was right there in the surgery. He grabbed his own pen from his medical kit and saved Jacob’s life. Phew!
Was John to blame for Jacob’s anaphylaxis?
Oh yes indeed! Desperate for a ‘win’ after being reprimanded by Liam, John swapped his almond-milk latte for Jacob’s. Unsuspecting Jacob only had to take a sip of the coffee for his body to react and soon he was fighting for his life. He could have been another death on John’s conscience.

Chas Dingle
After the limo crash, Chas Dingle was taking pain killers to help her cope with her back injury. Except the pills were swapped, Chas inadvertently overdosed and she collapsed, hitting her head. And what do you know? John just happened to be there at the right time to save her life. What luck, eh?
Was John Sugden to blame for Chas’s overdose?
Ella Foster took the blame for swapping Chas’s pills, though she was adamant she’d not been the one to do it. She pointed the finger at Chas herself but now we know it was John who did it! So yet again, it was another life-threatening moment he caused!
