Celia Daniels Moira Dingle Share By Carena Crawford Jan 15 2026 By Carena Crawford Jan 15 2026 Another day, another almighty muck-up by the Emmerdale police force as they investigate Moira Dingle and her connection to evil Celia Daniels. Given the number of investigations into the village and its residents you’d think the police would have got their act together by now. But it appears not as fans have pointed out multiple flaws in their pursuit of Moira. As she faces serious jail time over the accusations laid at her door, it’s clear to all once again the Emmerdale cops just aren’t doing their jobs. She begged DS Walsh to believe she wasn’t involved, but the copper was not buying it. Moira answered all the questions, but Walsh kept referring to the evidence found at Moira’s house – the ID documents Robert Sugden planted on the orders of Joe Tate. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers DS Walsh thinks she has got Moira with no way out. She cornered her alone and told her “coming clean is your only option”. Then she laid into her about putting “profit over people” and told her she looked “guilty as hell”. However the police investigation has once again caused uproar amongst fans who think there are very definitely a series of plot holes. One viewer summed it up perfectly: “Why are the police in soaps absolutely useless? Believe everything they’re told, arrest anyone when it’s obvious. They were aware what Celia and Ray were doing and conveniently ignore all of that.” So what else have they ignored? Robert planted the documents at Moira’s (Credit: ITV) 1. Moira’s fingerprints Moira has been arrested on the basis of the ID documents found at her house. But there is nothing other than that connecting her to them. And the police haven’t checked the fingerprints on them. “Don’t the police look for fingerprints anymore? So irritating to watch,” raged one on social media. Another questioned: “Why haven’t they taken Moira’s finger prints – surely they would find evidence on the envelope, photos, papers something?” “Surely even the daft police in Emmerdale will try to get fingerprints off the ID’s and envelope and not find Moira‘s,” added a third. Moira lashed out at Celia over her dodgy dealings (Credit: ITV) 2. Check Moira’s bank accounts Another thing the police have failed to do: check whether Moira is currently minted. If she’s supposed to have profitted from slavery, wouldn’t her financial history back that up? “Why don’t they check Moira’s bank accounts to see if things add up?” asked one fan. Another added: “Are the thicko police not going to check Moira’s bank accounts to see if any dodgy money has gone in or out?Incompetence at its finest.” 3. It’s obvious the evidence was planted “Sorry, but after the police were there before, do they really believe she’d just leave all the evidence waiting to bd found?” queried one angry viewer. And they’re quite right. As another said: “As if a Dingle would keep incriminating ‘evidence’ on a bookcase with police crawling around.” More cries followed this one: “It was in a super accessible place, and a place that would frequently be used as it appeared to be a kids’ toy box. You’d think she’d hide them better than that if she had hidden it.” “Why would Moria just leave all that information sat on a unit in her living room If the police had been once, come on,” laughed someone else, scarcely able to believe the storyline. DS Walsh does not believe Moira is innocent (Credit: ITV) 4. The police behaviour towards Moira was unprofessional in Emmerdale Many viewers have insisted the police are being lazy and just arrested the first person they spoke to. “They never seem to do a proper investigation and arrest someone so quickly when if they actually did their job they would find evidence. I just feel like it’s lazy police work and ‘hey, let’s grab anyone’ so they look like they did their job,” wrote one. Others were furious at Walsh’s treatment of Moira. “The police force in Emmerdale don’t actually do a proper investigation. Those scenes in the police interview have really wound me up. Poor Moira. Innocent until proven guilty, and without actual proof that Moira was involved they shouldn’t treat her the way they have.” “The way that detective spoke to Moira was inappropriate. Threatening her to ‘come clean’ when she’s innocent,” added one more. A third said: “That officer would’ve had Moira released for what she’s doing because that’s illegal and abuse of police powers which would lead to charges against the DS.” “Wasn’t that police harassment? Honestly they have nothing on Moira. The passports and the invoices don’t prove anything,” said another. A fifth agreed: “That police officer was unprofessional.” April and Dylan could vouch for Moira (Credit: ITV) 5. Why haven’t the police asked Dylan and April? Moira wasn’t the only person supposedly involved with Celia, Dylan and April were too. And if the police asked them, Dylan and April could vouch for the fact Moira was not involved. “Planting that evidence on Moira won’t really work when Dylan and April can say she had nothing to do with it, and so will the slaves when they turn up,” shared one viewer. Another said: “April and Dylan, who will obviously know Moira, don’t open their mouth to testify how it’s impossible for Moira to be any mastermind of this all? Come on.” We can’t see this ending well any time soon for Moira, despite the wealth of slip-ups by the Emmerdale police. So when will it all be over? Read more: Who’s leaving Emmerdale?
