Vanity are back on! (Sort of!) Robron shared a moment and Manpreet and Ross got sexy in our Emmerdale review

Surely it's only a matter of time before Vanity are official again?

Vanity reunited in this week’s Emmerdale! Well, sort of. This week’s episodes was all about the romantic reunions and we are delighted! Well, mostly.

Of course most excitingly of all, Charity and Vanessa shared a sneaky kiss, but also, Robert and Aaron shared a quiet moment, and – yeah, all right, this one isn’t so good – Manpreet and Ross got it on.

Plus there was lots of other stuff going on too.

Here’s what we thought of all the action in our review of the week.

The return of Vanity to Emmerdale!

There’s only one thing we want to talk about this week (that’s a lie actually but there’s one big thing!) and that’s the return of Vanity!

Finally! It has been clear to everyone for ages that Charity and Vanessa belong together. They should never have broken up. Suzy was lovely and we’re sad she died but she and Ness were hardly love’s young dreams. And our loathing of manchild Mack speaks for itself.

When Charity found out she wasn’t pregnant, it was Vanessa who picked her up and offered sympathy, wine and pasta. Their connection was obvious. Their mutual admiration, affection and respect was clear. And the kiss when it came was actually just a massive relief. Yes, they both agreed it was a mistake but we all know they’re wrong. They are made for each other and the sooner it happens the better.

Robron reunited!

If that wasn’t enough, there was also a delicious, tantalising Robron teaser. The pair shared a moment of connection. It wasn’t a kiss. But it wasn’t an argument either.

Aaron even said he was pleased Robert is back. Some fans thought the reunion was a bit lukewarm and that’s true. But it was hopeful. And frankly, we’ll take it!

We want more Ross!

Meanwhile it was a big week for our beloved Ross Barton as he reconnected with Steph for about half an hour and then awful Manpreet went and ruined it (it wasn’t really her fault but we’re blaming her anyway).

Then Steph left and Ross swiftly jumped back into bed with Manpreet. Nope. We want more Ross but not like that!

But we did like Manpreet’s green dress. It reminded us of Kermit. And that totally made us imagine who’d play who in a Muppet version of Emmerdale. Paddy would be Fozzie Bear, right?

Vinny feels confused in Emmerdale

Vinny’s torment

Anyway, back to real Emmerdale and Vinny was being tortured over his feelings for Gabby and the wedding and whether he might be gay. Gabby’s return from Portugal wasn’t the romantic reunion she’d hoped for, as Vinny sloped off for a ‘meeting’ with his new helpline friend, Mike.

We all know that Gabby can be shallow and self-absorbed but the way she’s being portrayed as an airhead who’s obsessed with appearances is beginning to bother us. It is not long since Gabby was duped and left heartbroken by Nicky. Her last wedding was an expensive and very public humiliation. And yet, she dragged herself back from the brink and rebuilt her life.

But no one is talking about that. No one is saying ‘cut her some slack, her last wedding was so awful she’s bound to hope this one goes better’.

And until right at the end of the week, when Vinny met Mike, he himself had not acknowledged that this had happened to Gabby before.

Of course Vinny should be his real self. If he is gay, then no one would want him to live a lie. But we don’t like poor Gabby being used as a pawn in this storyline, which is only going to end one way.

Troubled teenagers

Meanwhile, the teenagers weren’t covering themselves in glory this week.

She’s not actually a teenager any more, but Sarah’s been acting like a child so we’re lumping her into this! We’ve made our feelings about whiny Sarah’s demands to have a baby very clear, and she really took it too far when she found out Charity wasn’t pregnant.

Charity went for a walk. She didn’t jump off a cliff, or leap in front of a moving train, or throw herself down the stairs. She went for a walk, and she stumbled, and she’s not pregnant and all those things are unfortunate but they are not her fault. Sarah was very unfair to blame her – though she did apologise later.

After the pregnancy loss, there was a lot of angst over how Sarah could afford another embryo transfer. Her skint Grumpy stepped up to offer her the £2500 she needed. Rather than offering that cash to his even skinter wife, Moira. Make it make sense.

Also, doesn’t Jacob have money? Did he inherit everything from Leyla? Admittedly we’re not sure what Leyla’s financial situation was, but she owned a business. Surely she had a few pennies that Jacob could waste, erm we mean, spend, on becoming a dad.

Paddy helps Dylan in Emmerdale

Awful April

Elsewhere April was being super-possessive over Dylan, demanding to know where he was going and what he was doing all the time. Which was a bit weird.

But Dylan himself was – we thought – being a bit entitled too. We think he’s an interesting character but he’s done nothing to deserve everyone being so caring to him.

When Moira was talking so kindly to him, we felt all squirmy and uncomfortable.

Paddy put his whole career on the line to help him. Everyone covered up his crime despite him scaring poor Kyle so badly. He’s being given a lot of support and we know scary Ray is, well, scary, but Dylan really needs to prove himself.
