Emmerdale fans are worried that the current John Sugden storyline will continue to run until Christmas this year, being a long time until he gets caught.

With John still continuing to play the ‘hero’ by putting people in dangerous situations, fans have a right to be concerned that he might not go exposed for quite some time.

But, just how long could John get away with things for?

Emmerdale fans fear John won’t be caught until Christmas

John’s still going under the villagers’ radars at the moment, getting away with his crimes.

And, we know that it can take quite some time for villains to be exposed in soapland. This fact has caused some fans to worry that he might not go exposed until Christmas.

Taking to Reddit, one fan complained: “It’s gone on for too long and needs to come to a conclusion really soon. It’s getting a bit grating that the village don’t suspect a single thing.

“But this is going to carry on until Christmas, isn’t it?”

Another fan replied: “Oh man, I’m with you, while another said that it ‘wouldn’t surprise them if it lasted until Christmas.’

A fourth fan gave an explanation for the potentially lengthy storyline though, writing: “The village is notoriously stupid when it comes to spotting maniacs. Remember Meena Jutla?”

All we know about when John could be exposed

In a recent interview, actor Oliver Farnworth revealed that his contract runs out in August…

He said: “I knew the length of the initial contract.

“Because I had a year contract I was drip fed certain things.”

Oliver joined the soap as John in August 2024. He only has a year long contract, meaning his final scenes could air this summer. Unless, his contract was extended…

We also know that Robert is now becoming suspicious of John. Amy Walsh also recently teased that Cain and Tracy team up to take on Nate’s killer, and John is right at the top of their list of suspects.

So, perhaps John will be rumbled months before Christmas!
