Afterwards Charity starts to experience bleeding, which leads her to fear she’s miscarrying Sarah’s baby. Charity has risked her marriage to be Sarah’s surrogate (Credit: ITV) Charity is Sarah’s surrogate in Emmerdale spoilers Viewers were shocked last month when Charity made the impulsive decision to act as Sarah’s surrogate. Her granddaughter recently underwent an emergency hysterectomy which has left her unable to have children of her own. The official surrogacy agencies refused to help Sarah due to her life-limiting condition. And with all other options exhausted, Charity offered up her own womb. Mack – and pretty much everyone else – was horrified by the idea of Charity carrying her own great-grandchild. Pushing 50, age is not her side and carries huge medical risks for Charity and any potential baby. Despite Mack even threatening to end their marriage, Charity was set on going ahead with the IVF. The couple finally seem to be back on track as they share an embrace. But then disaster suddenly strikes when Charity slips and lands heavily on her stomach. Ouch! The fall leaves Charity in pain, as she fears it may have caused internal damage. Feeling suffocated by Sarah and Jacob’s constant fussing over her, Charity proposes they throw a party to celebrate the young couple’s engagement.
