Constant rain threatens the harvesting of the oat crop so Peter Ginn tries to fashion a weather vane in the hope of predicting future conditions, before the team deploys the latest in farming technology, including a tractor and an Edwardian film crew captures progress. The town enjoys a grand fete where new innovations of the era such as the electric lightbulb, the petrol-powered Lister engine and a genuine flying machine are showcased
