Celebrity Traitors episode 4 recap: Who went, if Jonathan Ross REALLY agreed to an alliance, and when it's next on
We investigate what was REALLY said in the car on Day 1The Celebrity Traitors‘ episode 4 was another good ‘un and featured a murder, a banishment and more chat about Jonathan Ross’ so-called “alliance” – so here’s a recap.
Whether Jonathan asked to form an alliance with Niko Omilana and Ruth Codd was a big topic of conversation during Thursday night’s episode.
It also resulted in the ‘death’ of yet another Faithful, as Jonathan feared the constant conversation would rumble his Traitor identity. Here’s a recap of what happened in The Celebrity Traitors episode 4, including who went, what Jonathan really said and when the show is on next.

The Celebrity Traitors: Who went last night
Thursday night’s episode of The Celebrity Traitors started with the conclusion of Wednesday’s cliffhanger. Viewers got to see who Traitors Jonathan, Cat Burns and Alan Carr murdered next.
Standing around their little table, the trio had spoken a lot about Ruth’s insistence that Jonathan had lied to Niko about “forming an alliance”. The Irish actress had repeatedly claimed Jonathan had asked Niko if they could do this while travelling in the car on Day 1.
Niko was later banished from the castle, with Jonathan being one of the many who voted to send him home. Ruth was convinced this meant Jonathan is a Traitor and made her feelings known.
When making their decision, the Traitors talked about whether it would either help Jonathan or backfire if they murdered Ruth. A double bluff? A triple bluff? In the end, they took the gamble and murdered Ruth.
Clare Balding was the second celebrity to go last night. She was banished following the latest Round Table. Clare had also been vocal in her support of Ruth’s claims, so Jonathan picked her. Incredibly, he convinced a whole lot of other people to pick her too!
Did Jonathan Ross really promise to ‘form an alliance’?
TVGuide.co.uk has watched back the scene of Ross, Clare, Niko and Ruth in the car on Day 1 of The Celebrity Traitors. We can confirm he did NOT ask Niko to form an alliance. However, what he did say could have implied this if lost in translation.
Jonathan said in the car: “If you form alliance with people, that might swing in your favour. And you’ve got two older allies here already.”
So Jonathan definitely didn’t ask to form an alliance. But he did describe himself as an “ally” of Niko’s…

What was the Mission in episode 4?
The celebrities were taken to Ardross Castle’s walled garden for the latest Mission. They were split into two teams; a forest team and a garden team.
The forest team had to go into the forest and find a series of ‘screaming banshees’. When they found one, they had to ask:”Banshee let out your wail”. Once the banshee had wailed, they had to copy her cry down a well.
The garden team then had to submerge their heads in a well at their end, listen to the wail and open a series of lockets. Each locket omitted a wail and they had to pick the identical wail the forest team had shouted through the well. Keeping up?!
The celebrities picked their own teams, making sure singers Cat and Charlotte were on a team each. They successfully identified four wails, scooping £4,000 for the charity prize pot.
Who has shields?
There were two immunity shields hidden in the latest Mission; one in the garden and one in the forest. Cat claimed one – despite secretly being a Traitor – and Stephen Fry bagged the other one.
This means both Cat and Stephen are immune from the next murder. It goes without saying Cat can’t be murdered though, as she is a Traitor. They are not protected from banishment, however.

Who will the Traitors murder next?
Episode 4 ended with Jonathan, Cat and Alan once again plotting to murder someone. But their shortlist on who to kill off was a little baffling. They based it on the two groups that were formed for the latest Mission, picking a victim from Jonathan’s group.
The trio narrowed it down to Welsh singer Charlotte Church, TV historian David Olusoga and Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway. But viewers were left on a cliffhanger and do not yet know who they chose.
“Their death is just going to rock the boat,” Alan said, as the show ended.
