Dragons' Den series 22 to FINALLY return, BBC has confirmed - and start date is soon
Helen Fear | 11:31am Thu 18 Sep | Updated 11:37am Thu 18 SepDragon’s Den will return to our screens with series 22, the BBC has finally revealed – after MONTHS of confusion.
Fans have been understandably pretty miffed of late, after the series disappeared halfway through a season. For no discernible reason.
Now, the BBC has confirmed that brand new episodes of Dragons’ Den will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer next month. Here’s everything we know so far.

When will series 22 of Dragons’ Den return?
After a hiatus of several months, Dragons’ Den will finally return on Thursday, October 02, 2025 at 8pm. It will air as usual on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
A synopsis from the Beeb told us: “A fresh batch of daring entrepreneurs enter the Den, each hoping to secure a life-changing investment from the formidable five: Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Sara Davies, Steven Bartlett, and Touker Suleyman.”
We also know that the series will continue to welcome celebrity guest Dragons. The remaining episodes will see Joe Wicks and Emma Grede make a comeback.
BBC continued: “Entrepreneurs that dare to approach the Den in this new batch of episodes include university friends who hope the shea-er brilliance of their rejuvenating body care brand will shine through. Also, two sisters pitch an app to empower women returning to work, and a Welsh ranger delivers a prehistoric pitch for educational dinosaurs.
“Lastly, a passionate Scottish entrepreneur showcases her line of natural tattoo aftercare products.”
How many episodes are left in series 22?
There are only five new episodes left to air of Dragons’ Den series 22.
Each episode is an hour long, and hosted by Evan Davis. Sadly these will be the last episodes with Sara Davies on the panel.

Why did Dragons’ Den series 22 stop halfway through?
Series 22 of Dragons’ Den began in January 2025 with the first guest of the season, Joe Wicks.
Subsequent episodes saw Trinny Woodall and Emma Grede pop up in the Den. Like previous seasons of the popular BBC One show, season 22 of Dragons’ Den is 14 episodes. But only eight aired at first. So why was DD dropped halfway through the season?
A BBC spokesperson told us at the time: “It’s a split series so will continue later this year with the last episode in this run on Thursday, February 27, 2025.”
After several months of patiently waiting, episode 9 of Dragons’ Den finally landed on Thursday, July 31, 2025. But annoyingly, the series was once again halted.
Instead, disgraced MasterChef took the Dragons’ Den Thursday night slot.
Is Sara Davies leaving the BBC show?
Yes, sadly, Sara Davies has confirmed she’s leaving Dragons’ Den after series 22. She plans to “step away” from filming to focus on her own business.
In a statement posted on Instagram, she said she had “taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business”. Sara is the founder of Crafters Companion, a crafting company she launched in 2005.
In her post, Sara said: “As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year. And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role.”
She added: “It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It’s so much more than a TV show.
“That’s why taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby! So I won’t be filming with the team this year for the next series.”
The BBC has not yet announced who will replace her in series 23 and beyond. Her fans will know that Sara became the youngest ever female Dragon when she joined the series aged 35 in 2019. She is now 41.
