A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: What time it's out and how to watch the new Game of Thrones series
Game of Thrones returns with a new story tonight
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is taking audiences back to Westeros – and if you want to know what time the new Game of Thrones series comes out and how to watch it, you’re in the right place.
Who’d have thought that Game of Thrones would still be one of the most popular franchises on telly?
House of the Dragon helped to redeem the series after its infamously bad finale, paving the way for renewed acclaim from fans and critics alike.
Tonight, one of George R.R. Martin’s best stories will come to life on the small screen. So, here’s what you need to know before you watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

What time is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms out tonight?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres at 3am UK time on Monday, January 19, before airing at 9pm on the same day.
If this is the first time you’ve wanted to watch a Game of Thrones show as it airs, this could seem preposterously late to you.
Here’s the thing: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms may be available to watch via Sky in the UK, but it’s an HBO show.
That means the UK needs to abide by HBO’s schedule. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will air in the evening for viewers in North America, and because of the time difference, this will be concurrent with its 3am release in the UK.
If you’re in the US or another territory, check out when it drops in other time zones:
- 7pm PT
- 8pm MT
- 9pm CT
- 10pm ET
- 12am Brazil
- 3am UK

- 11am China
- 12pm Japan and Korea
- 1pm Australia (AEST)

Remember, though, you don’t need to stay up late. It will air again at 9pm – you’ll just need to be careful and avoid any spoilers on social media.
How to watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will air on Sky Atlantic every Sunday until its finale.
You can either watch it as it airs, or catch up on demand or via a NOW TV subscription – specifically, an entertainment pass. As Sky itself has said, “you will not be able to watch [it] anywhere else in the UK”.
Viewers in the US will be able to stream it on HBO Max, which is launching in the UK in March 2026. However, don’t go and sign up yet (unless you have a VPN and a burning desire to access its library).

How many episodes will there be?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will run for six episodes in its first season. With adverts, each episode will last around 50-55 minutes.
The series has already been renewed for a second season, with production kicking off in December 2025 in Belfast.
According to HBO executive Francesca Orsi, it’ll air “ideally year-to-year” and last three seasons.
“Of course, we’d like more beyond that, and George is continuing to think about the remaining novellas that he still wants to write but at this point, we have our eye on three seasons that would map out each book, each novella,” she said.

Who’s in the cast?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms features a brand-new cast, with no other characters from Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.
Peter Claffey, a former rugby union player who starred in Bad Sisters and Vikings: Valhalla, leads the new series as Ser Duncan the Tall. He’ll also be referred to as Dunk.
By his side, he’ll have Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Dunk’s squire. The cast also includes:
- Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen
- Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen
- Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle
- Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon
- Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen
What is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about? Is it based on a book?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is an adaptation of Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, with the first season specifically adapting 1998’s The Hedge Knight.
The series will follow Ser Duncan, a “naive but courageous” lowborn knight, and his new squire: Egg, a child he comes across on his journey.
According to the official synopsis, the pair will wander Westeros together in a period that marks a “state of change… while the Targaryens still hold the Iron Throne, they are now without the dragons that made them so fearsome”.
“Great destinies, powerful foes and dangerous exploits await these two unlikely heroes,” it adds.

Will HBO Max affect Sky in the UK?
No! You’ll be able to watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and other HBO shows on Sky with no disruption when HBO Max launches in the UK.
“What’s really good about the deal that we struck is that if you’re a Sky subscriber, at no additional cost, you will have access to the HBO Max app within your Sky platform,” Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios, explained.
“So if you’re already a Sky subscriber, you have complete continuity of service. Actually, you probably have more because HBO Max will have more content than what we have today with the HBO shows and the Warner Bros. films.”
“It’s going to be completely seamless for those customers, so you’ll have a really rich experience, and that’s at no additional cost.”
