In her new role, she will be at the helm of Name That Tune and is the ideal candidate for a fun and fast-paced show.
An in-house band of elite musicians will be providing all the tunes. The professionals have already performed with some of the world’s biggest stars, including Adele and the Spice Girls. This will be a walk in the park!
Alison admits that once the music starts, she will have trouble holding back.
She says: “As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on!
“And trust me… that will take serious self control! I grew up absolutely loving the original show so being part of this now feels like a real full-circle moment.
“I cannot wait to get into the studio, put the contestants through their paces, and see who really knows their music. And let me tell you, being joined by the super-talented Name That Tune band, who’ll be belting out some of the biggest songs on the planet in their own unique, electric style… oh, it’s going to be next-level.
“Bigger, louder, and more feel-good than ever this is going to be epic!”
When was Name That Tune first on?
Name That Tune originated in the US on NBC Radio in 1952. The British version of the game show then hit ITV in 1976 with Tom O’Connor hosting.

In 1984, Lionel Blair took over as the show’s presenter. It was popular with families, but sadly went off air in 1988.
Name That Tune had a brief reboot on Channel 5 in 1997 and 1998, with Jools Holland as host. It has also since featured in Vernon Kay’s Gameshow Marathon and Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow.
It is now coming back home to ITV and will be bigger and better than ever.
When does Name That Tune start?
ITV announced the revival of Name That Tune today (May 1, 2026). It comes off the back of the show being a huge hit once again in the US.
Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment for reality and daytime at ITV, says: “Name That Tune is such an iconic brand we are excited to be bringing this refreshed global format to the UK audience.
“It’s a fun family series that not only sees contestants challenged in the studio, but viewers can play along with all the family, providing an unique playlist that spans generations.”
Sadly, ITV is yet to give any indication as to when it will start. We have everything crossed for later in 2026, but prepare for it to land in 2027 at the latest.
