Formula 1: Drive to Survive: Christian Horner 'hurt' as he shares emotional scene with wife Geri Halliwell about 'sudden' axe
'It was all rather sudden'Formula 1: Drive to Survive has returned for Season 8 on Netflix, where Christian Horner has an emotional scene with wife Geri Halliwell about being fired.
Last July, the 52-year-old was sacked as team principal and CEO of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team. He was removed midway through the 2025 season amid reports of an internal power struggle at the Thai-Austrian constructor, a year after his sex-texting scandal rocked the Formula One world.
Christian ultimately exited the team in July with an £80 million settlement. While the news reverberated across the motorsport community, insiders later suggested that Geri had long sensed her husband’s time at Red Bull was nearing its end.

In the Netflix docuseries, the moment Christian told Geri has been shared with the world to see.
While walking up to his wife, Christian said, “Hey darling,” before kissing her on the forehead. “All done and dusted,” he then remarked.
As they both sat down, Geri gave her husband a hug and kissed him on the cheek. “Anyway, onwards and upwards,” Christian added.
The episode then cut to Christian sharing that he felt a “huge sense of loss and hurt” following the axe.
“It was all rather sudden. I didn’t get a proper chance to say a proper goodbye,” he continued.
