Cooper & Fry bows out with a brilliantly dramatic episode 4 this week, and a guest cast of familiar faces from huge TV shows including Blue Lights, and 24.

In the series finale, we finally discover who killed Ben’s dad Joe Cooper, while Diane Fry comes face to face with her ex-boyfriend.

In the episode, the detective duo investigate when the body of local photographer Jenny Westlake is found dead lying among the stones at the popular tourist spot, The Nine Virgins.

As the detectives dig deeper, they find the burned body of a man nearby, and a truth begins to unravel that sends shockwaves through the team.

Who is Warren Leach in Cooper & Fry? 

Warren Leach is a farmer and landowner who plays a central role in episode 4 of Cooper & Fry series 1. When a woman is found dead on his land, you’d think he’d help the police with their enquiries. In fact, he’s aggressive and warns them away. Turns out there’s a reason he doesn’t want police investigating his property.

Who plays Warren Leach?

Dublin-born Conor Mullen, 58, portrays Warren Leach in the cast of Cooper & Fry. Blue Lights fans will recognise him for playing dodgy accountant George McLelland in the most recent series.

The actor has been on our screens for more than three decades, having made his first TV appearance in a CSM Alan Fitzpatrick in Soldier Soldier, Stuart McElroy in Holby City, and Garda Supt. Kevin Dunne in Red Rock.

More recently, he’s portrayed David Hamilton in Mr Bates vs. The Post Office, and Frank Ahern in Smother.

Other notable TV appearances have included his roles in Badger, Island at War, Rig 45, Normal People, Kin, and Channel 5 thriller The Drowning.

Who is Ravi Patel?

The character of Ravi Patel works as a warden in and around the popular tourist spot, The Nine Virgins. And he takes his responsibilities very seriously. He believes all the historic folklore about the sacred spot. When he’s doing his daily job of litter picking after the walkers, he discovers the dead body of Jenny Westlake. 

Who is actor Ankur Vikal and what is he famous for?

Indian-born Ankur Vikal, 43, portrays Ravi Patel in the cast of Cooper & Fry episode 4. The actor is probably most famous for his evil role in the multi-award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. Ankur played the role of villain Maman, a crime lord who kidnapped children living in the slums of Mumbai, and abused them for his personal gain.

As well as appearing in multiple films since his acting career began in 2001, he also played Yakub in the Indian-language version of drama series 24. Other notable TV appearances include Mohanan Kalita in The Good Karma Hospital, and Coach Azeem Khan in Inside Edge. Cooper & Fry is actually a pretty rare UK appearance for the actor, who generally appears in Indian-language TV and films.

What TV has Sarah Moyle been in before?

London-born Sarah Moyle, 56, stars as Yvonne Leach in the guest cast of Cooper & Fry episode 4. She is best known for her role as tactless receptionist Valerie Pitman in the BBC soap Doctors. She played the role between won the award for Best Comedy Performance at the 2019 British Soap Awards.

As well as an extensive theatre career, the actress is also known for playing Kimberley in the Ricky Gervais comedy Extras, and Caroline Swann in Emmerdale. Sarah has also popped up in TV series such as Sister Boniface Mysteries, Mount Pleasant, Candy Cabs, City Lights, and Get Well Soon.

Who is DCI David ‘Dave’ Branagh?

DCI David ‘Dave’ Branagh is DC Diane Fry’s ex-boyfriend who refuses to accept that their relationship is over. Although she left Leeds to escape him, he has followed her to Edendale in what could very much be called stalking. He made his first physical appearance in episode 3. In episode 4 of Cooper & Fry, Diane and Dave finally come face to face.

What has Vincent Jerome been in before?

London-born actor Vincent Jerome joins the cast of Cooper & Fry as DCI David ‘Dave’ Branagh. Waterloo Road fans will know him for playing Deputy Head Lindon King in the school-based drama. He portrayed the character between 2023 and 2024, in what was arguably his most significant role to date.

Vincent is known for his work across theatre, film and TV, and made his first screen appearance in the 2003 film Second Generation, a modern reworking of King Lear. He went on to the appear in films including The Third Testament: The Antichrist and the Harlot, Kickoff, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Wonder Woman 1984.

His most notable TV roles include R&D in Need to Know, Keith in Brothers with No Game, Christian Davis in The Few, Jay in Sins of Solitude, and Sid in The Peripheral.

Who is Martin Scargill in Cooper & Fry?

Martin Scargill is a scallywag who spends most of his life in a betting shop. He’s the ex-husband of murder victim Jenny Westlake and, at first, prime suspect of the crime. Not least because he was still named in her will, but also because he has bloody scratches on his face and neck the day after she dies.

What is Diarmuid Noyes famous for?

Dublin-born Diarmuid Noyes, 37, plays Martin Scargill in the guest cast of Cooper & Fry episode 4. An actor with two decades of experience, he is probably most famous for portraying Alessandro Farnese in the period drama Borgia. He played the cardinal between 2021 and 2024. 

He’s also known for portraying Michael Hogan in the Adrian Dunbar crime drama Blood. Other notable roles include appearances in Prosperity, The Tudors, Single-Handed, Line of Duty, and The Gone. Diarmiud most recently starred as Chris in the Dublin-based drama The Walsh Sisters.

Who else stars appears in the guest cast of Cooper & Fry episode 4?

Relative newcomer Gabriel Adewudi stars as RSPCA employee Tom Marsden, who was friends with the victim. The young actor has only been on our screens since 2021, when he played Imperial Centurion in the series Foundation. The Nigerian-Irish actor went on to portray Sami Joyce in Ireland’s west coast drama North Sea Connection.

Dublin-born Natalie Britton is Maggie Crew in the guest cast of Cooper & Fry episode 4. She’s been on our screens since 2007, and is perhaps most famous for playing Dottie in Them, or Kelsey in Ros na Rún, the Irish language soap set in an imaginary Connemara village. In 2024, she popped up as Willow Fouchay in Curb Your Enthusiasm, before playing Susannah in Channel 5 thriller The Au Pair
