Deal or No Deal today: Uche leaves viewers baffled as misstep sees her leave with miniscule sum
After Stephen Mulhern said 'there's a real feeling this week could be a big one'
Deal or No Deal player Uche stepped up to take on The Banker today (January 19), but her game hit the skids early doors, as she took out the £100k box in the very first round.
“Game over,” declared one viewer. “I only watch it now to see if anyone will win the 100k – looks like never!” they complained.
Host Stephen Mulhern assured Uche – and viewers at home – that she could still win the £75k. But with reds dropping thick and fast, how did Uche’s game pan out?
Uche takes on The Banker in Deal or No Deal today
The player – who revealed she wanted £7k to pay for a hair transplant after being diagnosed with alopecia – soon opened the £50k. She followed it up a couple of rounds later with the £75k.
With the £1, £5, £10, £5k and £25k left in play, The Banker called. He offered £2,240. Uche told him “no deal”, before opening the £1 box. Picking the next box, Uche couldn’t look, but the groans from the studio audience told her all she needed to know. “It’s £25,000,” host Stephen Mulhern told her sadly.
The Banker called again, this time offering £990. She turned it down, determined to play for the £5k.
The game’s newest player, Yahya, opened his box and had £5 in it. This time, The Banker offered £2,020 and, after much deliberation, Uche again said “no deal” – a decision Stephen called “brave”. Opening the box in front of her, Stephen revealed Uche had the £10 in her box.
“Well that’s a bad start to the week. Uche only wins £10,” said one viewer. “That was SO disappointing but it’s just a game,” said another.
Viewers baffled
Two things in Uche’s game left viewers baffled, though. Firstly, many questioned why Uche didn’t deal and take the £2k offer, with one declaring: “She’s not brave, Stephen, she’s greedy.” “A perfect example of when brave is stupid,” said another. “Sheer greed,” declared a third.
Others pointed to Uche’s job as a GP, which she revealed earlier in the show, and questioned why she needed a game show win to pay for her hair transplant.
“Surely, a GP’s salary covers the things she wants to do?” one questioned. “Disappointed for her but she’s a doctor so she won’t be short of a few bob,” said a second. A third was more cruel towards Uche, posting: “Moneybags doctor (who obviously doesn’t need the money) wins £10. Now you know how the minimum wages workers feel.”
Will anyone ever win the £100k?
Well, that’s the £100,000 question! Stephen Mulhern appears to have suggested a big win is on the way…
Posting on Twitter earlier today, he said: “It’s a new week and the tension in the studio is rising! There’s a real feeling this week could be a big one! Trust me, this is unmissable!”
