Is Emmerdale in danger of ruining Kev? Fans getting fed-up as they declare: 'It needs to stop'
Lewis wants nothing to do with Kev again
Emmerdale aired an upsetting setback for Kev Barton last night (Tuesday, July 28), as son Lewis Barton cut him out of his life.
Lewis had been under the impression that Kev had started a physical fight with boyfriend Vinny, when it was actually the other way around.
With Kev devastated over his son’s decision, he then started contemplating going back into his dodgy business with Steve.

Lewis cut Kev out of his life in Emmerdale
Kev was desperate to make son Lewis see that he hadn’t gone on the rob with Steve on the day of his birthday.
Lewis didn’t want to hear what Kev had to say, but Kev kept trying. He wanted to show Lewis that he was a changed man. And, that Lewis was the only person he cared about now.
A piece of chocolate cake later and Kev was back to planning a musical marathon with Lewis once he’d got back from London with Vinny.
However, Vinny then walked into the cafe. He made it clear that he would never be Team Kev.
Kev went off to then apologise to Vinny and offered him a piece of cake. However, Vinny couldn’t stop comparing Kev to his own dad Paul and feared that he was just going to hurt Lewis like Paul did to him.
Vinny then grabbed hold of Kev and ordered him to leave. This was just as Lewis walked in and witnessed the tense fight.
Instead of explaining to Lewis that he’d started the fight, Vinny told Lewis that Kev had initiated things.
Lewis was furious that Kev could hurt his boyfriend. He then told him that he was not only fired from his job but was also cut out of his life.
Back at Claudette’s place, Kev complained to Steve that, no matter what he did, everyone would just see him as a baddie. He would never be good enough for Lewis.
He then agreed with Steve that it was time to bring out the old Kev Townsend and be the man they all thought he was.

Emmerdale fans fear soap will ruin Kev with character U-turn
With Kev now contemplating going back to his old bad ways, Emmerdale fans are worrying that Kev will be ruined as a character.
They’ve enjoyed his redemption storyline and can’t stand the constant back and forth between Lewis giving him a chance and then wanting nothing to do with him again.
They’re desperate for the soap to choose the right path for Kev – and to stick with it.
One fan on X wrote: “Steve needs to do one. Love our Kev. Chris is brilliant, his one liners are a joy. Seriously, this needs to stop. Kev needs a break. It’s one thing after another. Loved the birthday cake he made for Lewis. Lewis & Kev have to find a way to get on.”
Another person agreed: “Emmerdale, I will never forgive you if Kev goes back to his past life of crime. He needs to stay on the right path. Having a good & funny relationship with his son & others. He’s a great asset to the show. Don’t fluff it up.”
A third viewer complained: “I can’t help but feel this entire Kev and Lewis storyline is going round in circles. Every time it seems like they are making progress, something happens to put them right back to square one.”
A fourth fan wondered: “Why bring Kev back if they’re going to make him seem like the bad guy?,” while a fifth added: “This ongoing Kev/Lewis on/off storyline is getting ridiculous and boring.”
It appears that the popularity of Kev rides on him being a good guy and being a changed man, but the soap seems yet to decide on the direction of the character.
There’s a danger that Kev could be ruined for fans if he doesn’t make a permanent amends with Lewis and stick to being a goodie.
