In Emmerdale spoilers for next week John finds himself in a living nightmare when Aidan Moore wakes from his coma! He might have opened his eyes, but does Aidan know who he is, or remember his connection to John?

The past is catching up with John in Emmerdale spoilers

John has been getting away with murder – quite literally – but there’s only so much longer it can go on.

His latest reckless actions caused poor little Harry to end up in hospital. The same hospital where John’s former fiancé Aidan Moore is lying in a coma. The soldier was critically injured while on service in Afghanistan. John tried to save Aidan, but his brain was starved of oxygen. He has been in vegetive state ever since that fateful day.

Believing Aidan would never regain consciousness, John embarked on a romance with Aaron Dingle. The pair are set to marry in a matter of days, but John’s past is about to catch up with him.

Aidan wakes up

As Victoria and John keep vigil at Harry’s hospital bedside, she thanks her brother for all his support. John loves feeling appreciated and is relieved Vic still has no clue he’s the reason for her son’s suffering.

John’s good mood doesn’t last long when he bumps into Aidan’s mum Cathleen outside. She informs him that Aidan has been moved to a ward and begs John to go and see him. This is all a bit too close for comfort for John. He needs Harry to hurry up and get better so they can far away from the hospital.

But Cathleen isn’t giving up on her son. As she’s sat with Aidan she mentions John’s name and suddenly his eyelids spring open. Aidan is awake – OMG!

John is on high alert over Aidan in Emmerdale spoilers

Next day, John’s worst fears are realised when he learns Aidan has defied the odds and come out of his coma. He makes his way to his former love’s bedside in an attempt to see whether Aidan will recognise him, or remember any details of their shared past.
John is relieved to discover Aidan is unable to talk, which is a relief given his proximity to Harry.
His secrets are still safe, but not for much longer. Unbeknownst to John, Belle Dingle is about to make a discovery that could cause his whole life to implode. Is it finally game over for the sinister Sugden?

Emmerdale usually airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm, with an early release on ITVX at 7am.
