Pete Wicks has given For Dogs’ Sake viewers an update on his foster dog Crumble – and they have been left in tears.

Crumble’s sad story featured in the latest episode of the U&W show, which is hosted by dog-lover Pete.

The staffy-boxer-cross had struggled to find a home after ending in a Dogs Trust kennel three years ago.

She was anxious and overlooked by families wanting to adopt a pet due to her reactive and barky demeanour.

When Pete met Crumble for the first time, she was wearing a muzzle. She was being looked after several nights a week by a Dog’s Trust adoption adviser to give her a break from the kennels.

Pete then began to muck in as Dogs Trust employees trained “misunderstood” Crumble not to react to other dogs when out for a walk.

He was smitten and, later in the show, offered to foster her for a brief stint.

Pete, who has two dogs of his own, had to go through a full application to foster Crumble through Dogs Trust.

He said on the show: “I have such a soft spot for that dog. From when I first met her when she was really unsure to now, you can see how much  love and affection she’s got.

“I love her, I really do love her. Like, goosebumps.”

Welling up, he added: “It makes me emotional to think how long she’s been here. Not one person or one family has come and said, ‘I want to take a chance on that dog’. And that’s heartbreaking.”

Viewers later saw Crumble going to stay with Pete in his luxury apartment while his other dogs were with his mum.

But as her foster stint came to an end, Pete sadly reflected: “I’ve got dogs of my own and Crumble’s stay with me can’t be forever.

“I really hope that someone just comes and falls in love with her like I did. She hasn’t had her happy ending… yet.”

What happened to Crumble?

Following the episode, the official Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake Instagram page was updated with a clip of Crumble.

The caption read: “Here she is, everyone’s favourite girl, Crumble.”

Viewers were desperate to find out how she was getting on before Pete left them crying happy tears.

He tagged in Crumble’s new owner, who wrote: “Crumble is stretched out in front of the fire ….dreaming about squirrels no doubt (she does like to chase them, she literally climbs trees!) She is a delight.

“Crumble came to live with us at the beginning of December. She is an absolute sweetheart and is very much loved.”

The message was met with dozens of comments and tearful faced emojis.

“Just watched and came straight here to look for an update. So happy she has a home finally,” one fan wrote.

Another added: “Thank goodness, she had me in tears. I couldn’t bear to think of her still in kennels enjoy your life together and hug her from me xx.”

A third penned: “What a legend, she is a beautiful girl so glad she found her forever home.”

And someone else simply said: “Aw love this, amazing news.”
