There's only one way to watch Heated Rivalry in the UK

Heated Rivalry Episode 3 drops soon – here's how to watch it

Heated Rivalry is one of the world’s most talked-about TV shows right now – so, before Episode 3, how do you watch it in the UK?

Fortunately, thanks to most streaming services being available globally, this type of situation doesn’t happen often.

However, it’s still very annoying when the UK has to jump through hoops to watch something. For example, The Pitt still isn’t available to stream anywhere (though that will change with the launch of HBO Max).

Heated Rivalry is the latest example of a show that loads of people want to watch… but they can’t. Don’t worry, there’s an easy trick to stream it in the UK if you want to catch up before Episode 3.

How to stream Heated Rivalry in the UK

You will need a VPN to watch Heated Rivalry in the UK.

For the uninitiated, a VPN (virtual private network) effectively allows you to hide your IP address and gives you extra protection while browsing.

However, one of their popular functions is the ability to change your location to access geo-restricted content. For example, if Netflix’s US library has a show you want to watch, all you’d need to do is switch your VPN to somewhere in America; it’s that simple.

ExpressVPN is a reliable option, but you can shop around for others (and many offer free trials).

Heated Rivalry is available to stream via two platforms: Crave in Canada, and HBO Max. So, once you use your VPN to change your location to either Canada or anywhere in North America, you’ll be ready to go.

Annoyingly, neither Crave nor HBO Max offer free trials. Also, Crave does have a free, ad-supported plan, but Heated Rivalry isn’t included. That means you’ll need to pay for a subscription.

Sky TV might bring Heated Rivalry to one of their channels before HBO Max launches in March next year, but this is only a rumour.

What is Heated Rivalry about?

Heated Rivalry follows Ilya (Connor Storrie) and Shane (Hudson Williams), two rising stars in Canada’s hockey league, who start to fall in love with each other.

According to the official synopsis, they’re “bound by ambition, rivalry, and a magnetic pull neither of them fully understands”.

“What begins as a secret fling between two fresh-faced rookies evolves into a years-long journey of love, denial, and self-discovery,” it adds.

“Over the next eight years, as they chase glory on the ice, they struggle to navigate their feelings for each other. Torn between the sport they live for and the love they can’t ignore, Shane and Ilya must decide if there’s room in their fiercely competitive world for something as fragile – and powerful – as real love.”

The series is based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels. It also comes from creator Jacob Tierney, who worked on the likes of Letterkenny and Shoresy.

How many episodes will there be?

The first season of Heated Rivalry will have a total of six episodes.

The series had a double-episode premiere on November 28, with the rest airing once per week until the finale on December 26.

Speaking to Evan Ross Katz, Tierney admitted the show’s success has (pleasantly) taken everyone by surprise. However, they’re still not finished working on the first season.

“The show has had a weird journey due to a lot of enthusiasm,” he explained.

“It was initially going to air in February [and it got bumped up]. As a result, the show is still not done. We’re still finishing the show, which is why it didn’t all drop at once.”
