I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec have shared the stomach-churning truth about what goes on once the cameras have stopped rolling on the show’s grisly eating challenges.

Eating trials have been a core part of the competition since its inception in 2002, with celebrities chowing down on such delights as crocodile penis, kangaroo anus and Witchetty Grubs.

And, as the ITV competition’s 25th season got underway, YouTuber Angry Ginge and comedian Ruby Wax gagged their way through plates of crocodile anus and a bull’s penis in an attempt to score food (of the more edible kind) for their campmates.

Delicious stuff! But what happens in the aftermath of I’m A Celebrity’s dinner ordeals?

Ant and Dec reveal truth behind I’m A Celebrity eating trials

As last night’s scenes aired, fans took to social media to register their shock. And Ruby and Angry Ginge’s ordeal had one fan wondering what the aftermath of the show’s food trials might look like.

“When the trials are over, I wonder if the contestants are sick on camera?” this viewer asked, on X.

Wonder no more! None other than Ant McPartlin weighed in with the answer, utilising their joint X account to reply: “They are sick on the way back to camp most of the time.”

And who can blame them? This year’s competition has only just begun, but already viewers have singled out Ginge and Ruby’s eating challenge as one of the worst the show has ever aired.

“They’ve NEVER been this harsh with a food challenge so early before like what do you mean they have to DIP? and eat ALL OF IT? vile omg this is a week two challenge,” wrote one fan.

“Not the eating trial on the second episode,” said another. A third agreed: “I swear this eating trial has been one of if not the worst I’ve seen.”

Ant’s admission came as Ginge and Ruby managed to secure rations for the camp by scarfing down a series of dishes, each named after various celebrities. One such delight included a serving of Benedict Bum-berbatch – or crocodile anus, to you and I.

Meanwhile, Ruby braved the Rob Beckett inspired Knob Beckett – a bull penis, with a sparkler poking out of it.

“I can’t believe what we’ve just done,” a visibly queasy Ginge said afterwards.

Still, the pair absolutely smashed their first Bushtucker trial, scoring some much-needed grub for those waiting back in camp.
