ITVX Coronation Street episode sees Sam Blakeman receive official diagnosis after mental health crisis
Sam was sectioned
In today’s early ITVX episode of Coronation Street (Monday, June 15), Sam Blakeman was given a diagnosis while at the hospital.
After his recent mental health crisis, Sam’s family anxiously awaited for an update at the hospital.
They were then given an official diagnosis by the hospital staff, with the next steps in Sam’s recovery then being revealed to them.

Sam’s family anxiously awaited news in Coronation Street
Sam’s family awaited news of the teen’s health today in the early ITVX release, with Nick being told that it was best for Sam not to see him for the time being.
A member of the hospital team then came out and told Leanne and Toyah that Sam looked to be suffering from schizophrenia.
They’d talked to Sam and had told him that he was ill and needed support. But, Sam had refused to take some medication. With the team viewing Sam as a risk to himself though, he would still need to take the oral medication.
Sam then burst out onto the hospital corridor and saw Nick. He then started to believe that they were trying to poison him and were all working together.
Nick apologised, insisting that he never meant for Sam to see him. But, with Sam begging to go home and shouting in the corridors, he was then sent back to his hospital room while his family were told not to visit him until he was more stable.

Sam sectioned in Coronation Street
Before Nick, Leanne and Toyah left to go home, they were then informed about the legal side of Sam’s situation.
When a person was a possible danger to themselves, they would be sectioned. Toyah knew this was coming, trying to calm a worried Nick down as the family struggled to process this news.
Back on the Street, Nick gathered the group to the bistro. He blamed Ben Driscoll for not telling him his concerns about Sam before even when he realised something was different about him. He just assumed his mutterings and ‘being in his own world’ were just typical teenager things.
Nick felt guilty about not realising that his own son was struggling. He then blamed it all on the upcoming Megan Walsh court case and the pressure Sam was obviously feeling.
If Ben had realised that Megan was grooming Will sooner, maybe Sam wouldn’t have needed to be involved in the situation at all.
Will Nick learn to come to terms with Sam’s diagnosis and give him the support he needs?
