Louis Theroux reveals savage response to Andrew Tate after he turned down Inside the Manosphere
Andrew Tate tried to insult Louis Theroux, but it didn't work
Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere references Andrew Tate multiple times, but he never appears in the documentary – not for Theroux’s lack of trying
Tate is one of the figureheads of the manosphere, the online community of ultra-masculine, often misogynistic influencers who promote life hacks, ways to get rich quickly, and controversial attitudes about women.
While clips and images of him are scattered throughout Inside the Manosphere (including Tate’s hand gesture), there isn’t an interview with Tate himself. Considering Theroux has spoken about him before (he described himself as the “anti-Tate”), this will probably surprise viewers.
However, Theroux tried to get him… and Tate turned him down.

Why Andrew Tate refused to appear in Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere
Theroux reached out to Andrew Tate (and his brother, Tristan) to ask him to participate in Inside the Manosphere. He had one demand, but it derailed the whole thing.
“The biggest guy in the space, in that whole manosphere community, is Andrew Tate,” he explained in an interview with Romesh Ranganathan.
“When we started on it, I thought, ‘We might get Andrew Tate.’ And over the year of filming, I was messaging [Andrew and Tristan] back and forth, quite a lot.”
Tate said he’d consider it if Netflix paid him. Theroux told him that wouldn’t happen, so he said no. However, he had another reason for turning Theroux down.

Louis Theroux’s ‘gangster’ response to Andrew Tate insult
Tate sent Theroux a graph showing how much they’d both been searched on Google over the past five years. As Theroux recalled, interest in Tate had been much higher.
“I was barely registering; nobody’s been Googling me,” Theroux said.
Yet, despite Tate’s attempt to put Theroux down, he got the upper hand. “At the very end, through some weird glitch, my line went above his,” he said.
Theroux sent a screenshot of it to Tate and wrote, “I’m literally more relevant than you are.”
“That felt pretty gangster,” he joked to Ranganathan.
Theroux also spoke to The Guardian about Tate’s absence from the film. “I think part of him wanted to do it. He does do interviews,” he said, but he suspected Tate may have been nervous, as he hasn’t spoken to many seasoned journalists.
“I suppose I should be flattered that he didn’t, in a weird way,” Theroux added.
Instead, the documentary features other influencers, like HSTikkyTokky, Justin Waller, and Sneako.
