Aaron found out John’s lies

The last we saw of Mack he had been shot with an arrow by John who then smashed a huge rock down on his head. It was assumed he was dead (we mean, honestly, how could he have survived that?!), but of course fans were super-suspicious. After all, no body means no death in Soapland, right?

As the episode picked up tonight (Friday August 29) John was wandering off somewhere as Aaron woke up and watched him suspiciously through the window. Aaron was then enjoying a drink outside when the neighbour came along and revealed the owner of the cottage had died over a year ago. And that it was a woman.

Obviously given John had told Aaron the owner was a man and very much alive, that set the cogs whirring. He called John to find out where he was, wanting answers over what he’d just learned.

Then he decided to get them for himself and went to the locked room and picked it open. Once inside he discovered it was in fact John’s childhood bedroom.

“You’ve been lying to me again,” he said as John appeared in the doorway. He confronted John over the fact it was clearly his house.

The truth about Mackenzie in Emmerdale revealed

He tried to cover insisting it was a last minute option; insisting he hadn’t mentioned it before because he doesn’t like coming back there due to his mum dying in the house. John didn’t tell Aaron, apparently, because he didn’t want him to be worried. John claimed he wasn’t ready to talk about his mum as he hadn’t been able to save her from the cancer.

Aaron immediately gave in and started talking about Faith’s death. He also confided about Chas’ cancer and how he understood how scared John was.

John then suggested they stayed. He felt at home there and wondered if they could start afresh there together. Aaron agreed.

Later John headed back into the woods and opened a hatch into an underground bunker. And inside was none other than Mackenzie! Groggy, woozy and barely conscious, but definitely still alive.

So what happens next – and why is Aaron in danger?

With Mackeznie held captive in the bunker by John, Emmerdale has remained tight-lipped about what will happen to him now, other than to encourage us to watch this next chapter unfold next week.

However, we do know John has Aaron in his sights next week. Not content with their agreement to move to the cottage permanently, John takes action to keep full control of his husband – which could prove fatal.

It’s clear Aaon is having some doubts as the couple visit the village and reveal they are moving to John’s place for good. Robert is far from okay about the plan and immediately storms round to see Aaron and beg him not to go.

As Aaron wavers, Robert moves in for a kiss. But will Aaron kiss him back and choose Robron?

John later has Aaron back at the cottage and wants to make sure he keeps him there. So he drugs his whiskey and is pleased when Aaron is affected by just one glass. Seizing control and fawning over looking after his husband, John has Aaron exactly where he wants him.

But when John heads out, Aaron has another glass – is he going to be okay? Or has John inadvertantly struck again and killed his husband?
