MAFS Australia fans convinced they know the real reason why Steven rejected Rachel in Intimacy Week
Rachel ended up in tearsMAFS Australia‘s Steven has once again backed away from getting intimate with wife Rachel and fans are certain they know why.
The couples are now being put to the test with Intimacy Week as the Married At First Sight Australia experiment steps up a notch.
Tonight, Rachel was seen channelling her inner Keira Knightley in Love Actually.

Standing while wearing a blindfold, she held up a series of white cards with messages on.
The penultimate one said: “Will you kiss me now, in this moment. The kind of kiss that makes me feel something.”
Rachel turns the page to reveal a final message: “Kiss me.”
But Steven refused – and viewers think they have worked out what his issue is.
MAFS Australia: Steven rejects Rachel
Knocking Rachel back, Steven told his new wife: “I can kiss you, Rachel, I can kiss you, but I’m not too sure if it’s going to make you feel something.”

Rachel ripped off her blindfold and began to cry, asking what he meant by his answer.
“I’m going to be really open to you with this. The way I stand right now, we feel like room mates and it feels friendly,” he said.
Steven explained that he doesn’t feel a romantic connection, so won’t be able to kiss her “passionately” to make her feel something.
But fans think there is much more to it.
Early on in the series, Steven revealed that he had undergone a dramatic body transformation. A fan of heavy metal at the time, Steven was a lot larger.
He said of his past attempts at romance: “I’m a little bit sour on the fact that when I was bigger I just got no attention. I had to work my butt off to starve myself and go on diet plans to make myself lose weight and get muscle.
“It was to turn myself into something that I really didn’t believe mattered. I’m still the same guy but I’m just a bit thinner now.”

‘He fought hard to lose weight’
MAFS Australia fans are convinced this has something to do with it.
One viewer wrote on Reddit: “He fought so hard to lose a lot of weight, and the last thing he needs is to be with a larger woman who he feels could throw him off track with his eating.”
Another fan added: “He definitely has a lot of internalised fatphobia and negative self beliefs. I feel for him just as I do for Rachel.”
And a third agreed: “Let’s not forget that Steven worked really hard to lose his weight and I think when someone puts in that self discipline it can be triggering being around someone who hasn’t put in that same amount.
“Not trying to fat shame but it is a lot of hard work to lose weight. So if lifestyles don’t align in that way it can be hard to build a connection.”
Could they be or to something? Or are they missing the mark?
