The Masked Singer: Yak identity revealed as British music legend in unmasking tonight
Did you guess it right? The Masked Singer said goodbye to another celebrity after they were unmasked tonight in a reveal. It comes as the competition continues to ramp up following last week’s dramatic launch.
The opening weekend saw four famous faces exit the show across two episodes. Viewers first said goodbye to Anne Marie as Goldfish, followed by Alex Jones, who was revealed to be Disc Jockey. The second episode then confirmed Matt Lucas was behind Arctic Penguin, before Professor Green was unveiled as Teabag.
That meant tonight’s The Masked Singer episode marked the latest departure, with Yak becoming the newest contestant to be unmasked as the guessing game gathered pace ahead of the reveal.

Yak unmasked as John Lydon in The Masked Singer’s latest reveal
John Lydon was unmasked as Yak during tonight’s reveal on The Masked Singer, bringing an end to his time in the competition.
The dramatic moment came after Yak found himself in the bottom alongside Monkey Business, with both characters failing to secure enough votes to stay safe. Monkey Business performed Kesha’s TiK ToK, before Yak took to the stage with a rendition of That’s A Moray.
Earlier in the episode, Davina had already admitted her own guess for Yak’s identity was a bit of a stretch. Sharing her thoughts with the panel, she said: “I’m gonna give you my ridiculous guess.
“Assume I follow the herd, but this is not my style, so it’s somebody who is a bit different. Ham and pineapple pizza. I was like, oooh, that’s a Hawaiian. Then I heard, I go with the flow. I’m thinking water. I’m thinking Aquaman. I’m thinking, Oh, my God, it’s Jason Momoa!” she exclaimed.
In the end, Davina’s far-fetched theory proved wide of the mark, as John Lydon was revealed to be the famous face hiding behind the Yak mask.

Guest judge Freddie Flintoff actually correctly guessed that John Lydon – or Johnny Rotten – was the singer behind the mask. Jonathan Ross agreed and decided to vote the same.
Fans also felt like they were on the ball with their guesses.
One wrote: “John Lydon singing “Physical” by Olivia Newton-John whilst dressed as a Yak, I couldn’t love this crazy show more if I tried!”
A second penned: “Knew it was John Lydon as soon as I remembered his song in the Irish Eurovision show was called “Hawaii”.”

Fans convinced they’ve ‘cracked’ the code
As the series moves into its second week, fans are already convinced they are cracking the code behind the costumes. Many viewers admit they struggle to stay patient, eager to piece together every clue in a bid to work out who is hiding beneath the masks.
Some fans have even taken their detective work a step further, discussing a supposed “hack” involving AI. On Reddit, viewers debated using artificial intelligence to analyse the clues, with one user admitting they had already used ChatGPT to guess the identity of Red Panda.
However, with Red Panda yet to perform following a last-minute schedule change, it remains to be seen whether AI will get it right.
Not everyone is sold on the idea, though, with some fans arguing it risks spoiling the fun of the show. One viewer commented: “I imagine the AI would get it right occasionally, but it’d take the fun out of the whole concept, so… I’m not really going to be trying it.”

Joel Dommett’s suit stole attention tonight
The latest episode also embraced a full Sports Day theme, with Freddie Flintoff joining the judging panel as a guest for the night. The former cricket star and TV presenter took his seat alongside Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama and Jonathan Ross.
While the theme was reflected throughout the show, it was host Joel Dommett’s outfit that sparked the biggest reaction online. His sports-inspired suit left many viewers baffled, prompting a flurry of comments on social media.
One viewer wrote: “I’m sorry but what in the name of Jackets is Joel wearing?” Another added: “What the hell has Joel got on? It does make me wonder what he’s going to wear next.” A third questioned: “What on Earth are the panel wearing tonight?”
However, not all reactions were negative. One fan admitted they “really want” Joel’s suit for their own wardrobe, while another praised his commitment to the theme, writing: “Gotta give it to Joel for going in all with the sports theme. Only he could pull off a suit that looks like grass.”
