When British teenager Katie Gleason vanishes during a school exchange in southern France, her mother Sarah rushes to Saint-Michel seeking answers.
But she’s met with evasive police and hostility from Katie’s powerful host family, the Morvans. Launching her own investigation alongside local detective Lieutenant Virginie Taylor, together they expose “buried secrets, abuse, corruption, and trafficking within the tight-knit town”.

Missed Call on Channel 5 cast: Ma Larkin star Joanna Scanlan plays Sarah Gleason
TV favourite Joanna Scanlan leads the cast of Missed Call. The Cheshire-born actress, 64, plays single mother Sarah Gleason, who sends her teenage daughter Katie on a school exchange trip to the south of France. And regrets it with every bone in her body.
Joanna is probably most famous for playing Ma Larkin in the ITV reboot of The Darling Buds of May, renamed The Larkins. She played the famous matriarch between 2021 and 2022, opposite Bradley Walsh’s Pop Larkin. However, the series didn’t quite live up to the David Jason original and was axed after two series.

Joanna has been on our TV screens ever since 1997 when she played Bessie in the TV movie Jane Eyre. She went on to play Lady Crawley in Vanity Fair, Stumpy Yates in Doctors and Nurses, and even played a prisoner in EastEnders!
From 2005 to 2012, she played Terri Coverley in The Thick of It, and later Nancy in Stella. Other notable TV roles include DI Vivienne Deering in No Offence, and Angela Griffiths in The Accident. She’s also played Sister Den Flixter in Getting On, Toria in Heading Out, Mrs. Klebb in Big School, and Janice Gray in Requiem.

Gentleman Jack fans will know her as Isabella ‘Tib’ Norcliffe in series 2, before she went on to play Sharon in The Light in the Hall, and Pat Tooh in Boat Story. More recently, Joanna has played Amanda Thirsk in A Very Royal Scandal, Moira Tregorian in Slow Horses, and Beth in Riot Women.
Joanna’s film roles include Kinky Boots, Notes on a Scandal, Bridget Jones’ Baby and its 2025 sequel, and The Other Boleyn Girl. She deservedly won a BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role for After Love.

Rupert Graves plays Jason Bradley
Somerset-born actor Rupert Graves, 62, portrays Jason Bradley. Jason is Sarah’s boyfriend, a bus driver who transports the French Exchange group to Saint-Michel.
Rupert has been on our screens for 50 years and started as a child actor. But he is perhaps best known for his roles in period dramas. These include appearances in the 1985 film A Room with a View, 1987’s Maurice, and The Madness of King George in 1994. Between 2002 and 2003, he portrayed Young Jolyon Forsyte in the TV mini-series The Forsyte Saga.
From 2010 to 2017, he starred as DI Lestrade in the hugely popular BBC television series Sherlock. Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade was a key character in the series, who served as a crucial ally to Sherlock Holmes.
Other notable roles in his long career include Nick Savage in ITV detective drama Scott & Bailey, Sir Arthur Hill in Garrow’s Law, Gary in Last Tango in Halifax, John Warren in The Family.
Riviera fans will know him as Gabriel Hirsch, before he went on to play Richard Degalais in The Reunion, and Simon Harper in The Burning Girls. More recently, Rupert has starred as Henry Huntley in Surface, and Mr Goff in Washington Black.

Missed Call on Channel 5 cast: Robert Lindsay portrays Andrew Taylor
Derbyshire-born Robert Lindsay, 76, stars as Andrew Taylor in the cast of Missed Call on Channel 5. Of course, he’s a very recognisable face on our screens, having first appeared on TV in 1973!
Robert made his name playing lovable rogue-type characters in sitcoms such as Citizen Smith (1977 to 1980), and Ben Harper in My Family (2000 to 2011). Both were huge hits, and launched the careers of countless co-stars including Beyond Paradise‘s Kris Marshall.
Since the end of My Family, which ran for 118 episodes, Robert has appeared in dozens of TV dramas including Spy, Atlantis, Galavant, and Bounty Hunters.
Robert has actually taken a small step back from TV work over the past few years, and Missed Call is his first TV appearance since 2024. That year, he portrayed Franklin Warner in brilliant BBC One crime Sherwood, and Morgan in Generation Z. He’s set to appear in the upcoming series 2 of comedy Big Mood, too.
He’s also known for his work in theatre and film.

Emily Coates is Sarah’s missing daughter Katie Gleason
Hampshire-born Emily Coates plays 17-year-old Katie Gleason, Sarah’s missing daughter, in Missed Call. Although Emily doesn’t quite have the lengthy CV of some of her co-stars, she does already have some impressive roles in her TV CV.
She made her very first screen appearance in an episode of Flack in 2019, before popping up in several episodes of the Martin Clunes sitcom Warren. After playing Lucy Pellow in one episode of Ackley Bridge, Emily won the role of Sister Iris in supernatural Netflix series Cursed.
Between 2019 and 2022, the young actress played Rachel Fielder in coming-of-age comedy Ladhood. She subsequently played Petra in The Great, and Tracy Browne in The Long Shadow.
Emily appeared in the 2024 festive film Bad Tidings opposite Lee Mack, and Chris McCausland. She beat multiple other young girls to play Rosa in the 2023 live-animation Disney film The Little Mermaid.

Believe it or not, Emily Coates isn’t a teenager in real life. Despite her very youthful looks, she is actually 31 years of age and was born in 1994. Although she didn’t make her first TV appearance until she was 25.
In Missed Call, Emily plays a 17-year-old – and easily gets away with it!

Missed Call on Channel 5 cast: Dean Fagan plays teacher Neil Scott
Manchester-born Dean Fagan, 38, plays Neil Scott in Channel 5 thriller Missed Call. He’s been on TV for 25 years, but is best known for playing Luke Britton in Coronation Street between 2014 and 2018.
A mechanic at Webster’s Autocentre, Luke was the older brother of Steph and a thoroughly decent chap. Which ended badly for him. Always trying to do the right thing, he attempted to trace Steph’s missing ex-boyfriend Andy Carver in 2018. That resulted in him getting killed in a car explosion at the hands of Andy’s killer Pat Phelan.
Since then, Dean has played Stevie in the brilliant award-winning drama Time, and Finn Ahern in Smother. He’s also popped up as smaller roles in films including Fackham Hall, Gladiator II, and Worried About the Boy.

Andrew Lee Potts is shady Mark Jones
West Yorkshire-born Andrew Lee Potts, 46, is back on our screens playing shifty Mark Jones in the cast of Missed Call on Channel 5. And, yes, you will recognise him from his leading TV roles in the noughties.
In fact, Primeval fans will know Andrew Lee Potts for playing quirky Connor Temple in the ITV sci-fi series opposite Douglas Henshall. For a while, Andrew was TV’s poster boy, and even dated his Primeval co-star Hannah Spearritt. He’s now in a long-term relationship with Match Not Found actress Katie Sheridan. He has two children with ex-wife Mariama Goodman of Honeyz fame.
Other notable roles include Lee in the Johnny Vegas comedy series Ideal, Toby in Strange, William Greg in period drama The Mill, and Tim Larson in Lucky Man. This year, he made a TV comeback playing Aaron Burr in Fox Nation’s The White House after two years in films.
When he’s not acting, Andrew is directing and producing. His real life sister is Holby City star Sarah-Jane Potts.
