The true crime documentary had been scheduled to land on the streaming giant next month.
Survivors and legal experts were set to recount how disgraced pop star Gary Glitter used his money, fame and power to carry out decades of child sexual abuse.
A team of dogged journalists would also be exposing how they tracked the fugitive across the globe to bring him to justice.
But Netflix has today confirmed the release of Hunting Gary Glitter has been put on hold.
Hunting Gary Glitter pulled from Netflix weeks before release
Netflix announced its new documentary Hunting Gary Glitter earlier this month.
The series has three episodes and is set to cast a huge spotlight on the 82-year-old paedophile musician, whose real name is Paul Gadd.
The central story for the show is the years-long hunt for glam rock star Gadd, told through the people who investigated him and the survivors who came forward.
From Cuba to Cambodia to Vietnam, Hunting Gary Glitter documents the journalists’ pursuit before eventually ending with the singer being jailed.
A trailer for the series, which has now been removed by Netflix, said: “Follow the journalists on a global hunt for justice.”
One photographer then recalled: “As I’m standing there on the roadside, I realise this is Gary Glitter. I then have one chance to get him.”
Netflix had announced that Hunting Gary Glitter would be available to watch from Wednesday October 14, 2026.
But today (September 23, 2026), a spokesperson confirmed: “We have made the decision to pause the release of Hunting Gary Glitter.
“This follows new legal information we recently became aware of. We’re not able to share further detail at this time.”
Where is Gary Glitter now?
Gadd is currently in jail at HMP Cannings Wood. This is an all-male prison in Devon.
In 2015, he was convicted of historic child sex offences dating back to the 1970s. He is serving a 16-year sentence.
Gadd had previously been jailed for three years in Vietnam for sexual offences against two girls under 13. He was released in 2008 and returned to the UK.
Earlier this month, Gadd appeared at Southwark Crown Court. He pleaded not guilty to eight new charges of historic sex offences against a young girl.
The shamed star is accused of abusing the girl between 1978 and 1981. She was aged between eight and 11 years old.
He is currently awaiting trial.
