15 new Christmas movies you need to watch before 2025 ends
There are 15 new Christmas films across Netflix, Prime Video and more
New Christmas movies can be hard to recommend; after all, is any 2025 film going to be as good as your all-time favourites?
Yet, every year, thanks to the GREAT! Christmas TV and Christmas 24 channels, we watch plenty of films we’ve never seen before. They may not always be brilliant, but they’re cosy and festive – and that’s all that matters.
However, what else is there? Is there a new Christmas film among the best Netflix movies, or does Amazon Prime Video have anything to offer?
Well, we’ve rounded up all of this year’s new Christmas movies and where you can watch them.
New Christmas movies on Netflix
A Merry Little Ex-Mas

- Genre: Comedy, Romance
- Release date: November 12, 2025
- Director: Steve Carr
- Cast: Alicia Silverstone, Oliver Hudson, Jameela Jamil
- Runtime: 1 hour 31 minutes

What it’s about: Kate, a new divorcée, wants to have one last perfect family Christmas before she’s forced to sell her house. However, things don’t go to plan, thanks to her ex-husband turning up with his younger and successful new girlfriend.
Why to watch: Netflix has become a dab hand at Hallmark-esque Christmas movies – and A Merry Little Ex-Mas, the streaming platform’s first festive effort of the year, is a strong start.
It stars Clueless legend Alicia Silverstone and The Good Place star Jameela Jamil. Expect cheesy, festive goodness; nothing more, nothing less (don’t pay attention to its 47% Rotten Tomatoes score).
Champagne Problems

- Runtime: 1 hour 39 minutes
- Where to stream in the UK: Netflix
What it’s about: A driven American exec heads to Paris determined to acquire a champagne brand by Christmas — and accidentally falls for the heir to the bubbly empire.
Why to watch: Champagne Problems is fizzy, holiday fun, anchored on the strong chemistry of Minka Kelly and Tom Wozniczka, and another entertaining example of Netflix aspiring to Hallmark’s corny, comforting tact at Christmas.
Jingle Bell Heist

- Genre: Comedy, Romance, Action
- Release date: November 26, 2025

What it’s about: Two down-on-their-luck hourly workers team up to rob a posh London department store on Christmas Eve. Will they steal each other’s hearts along the way?
Why to watch: If tales of city folks humbling themselves in small towns aren’t your cup of mulled wine, Jingle Bell Heist may be the new Christmas movie for you. It’s not Ocean’s Eleven, but it’s a fun, festive spin on the crime caper — plus, it comes from Bridgerton writer Abby McDonald and stars Amandaland’s Lucy Punch.
My Secret Santa

- Genre: Comedy, Romance
- Release date: December 3, 2025
- Director: Michael Rohl

What it’s about: A single mom in need of a job decides to disguise herself as a man in order to get hired as the seasonal Santa at a luxury ski resort. But when she starts to fall in love with the hotel manager, complications develop that could ruin everything.
Why to watch: My Secret Santa has everything a Christmas movie could ever ask for: a preposterous premise, a lavish setting that’ll have you plotting a holiday, and Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge. It’ll tide anyone over waiting for season 7, and if you’re a New Amsterdam fan, it stars Ryan Eggold, too.
Goodbye June

- Genre: Drama, Comedy
- Release date: December 24, 2025
- Director: Kate Winslet

- Where to stream in the UK: Netflix
What it’s about: In the lead-up to Christmas, June’s health takes a downturn, forcing her three daughters to reunite and confront their complicated family dynamics.
Why to watch: Here’s the thing: the other new Christmas movies on Netflix aren’t bad, but they are disposable. Goodbye June, directed by and starring Kate Winslet, is an absolute must-watch, and it could become a tear-jerking annual rewatch if everything goes to plan.
New Christmas movies on Amazon Prime Video

What it’s about: Claire Clauster always holds her chaotic, lovable family together every Christmas. However, they accidentally leave her home alone, so she sets off on an impromptu adventure of her own.
Why to watch: The premise may sound like a simple twist on Home Alone, but Oh What Fun is more than that. Not only does it send up other festive classics, but it’s also a fun, loving ode to the mothers who work tirelessly to make Christmas great.
Tyler Perry’s Finding Joy

What it’s about: Joy, a New York fashion designer struggling in her career, follows her crush Colton to Colorado, hoping for holiday magic. She ends up stranded, and a chance encounter with Ridge changes everything.
Why to watch: Normal festive entertainment resumes with Finding Joy, another sturdy rom-com in the Hallmark mould. Don’t expect any wild twists and turns: you’ll see everything coming, but that’s part of the fun. Best paired with a handful of chocolates that never goes empty.
Merv

- Genre: Comedy, Romance

Why to watch: You have Zooey Deschanel, star of one of the greatest romantic comedies ever made, 500 Days of Summer. You have Charlie Cox, whose star power and charisma have gone mostly unsung outside of Daredevil. You also have a cute dog. Are you not sold yet?
New Christmas movies on Disney Plus
A Very Jonas Christmas

- Genre: Comedy, Action

- Where to stream in the UK: Disney Plus
What it’s about: Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas face a series of escalating obstacles as they struggle to make it from London to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families.
Why to watch: The Jonas Brothers may not be as culturally relevant as they once were. However, not only does their new Christmas movie serve as a reminder of how they became so popular, but it’s brisk, goofy, and surprisingly good.
Joy to the World

- Genre: Comedy, Romance
- Release date: November 11, 2025
- Director: Jerry Ciccoritti
- Cast: Chad Michael Murray, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Ayesha Curry
- Runtime: 1 hour 27 minutes
- Where to stream in the UK: Disney Plus
What it’s about: While promoting her latest Christmas cookbook, author and lifestyle guru Joy Edwards learns that her publisher has arranged for a live Christmas Eve TV special from her home. There’s just one problem: her ‘perfect’ life is a lie.
Why to watch: No offence to Emmanuelle Chriqui (who’s starred in the likes of You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Wrong Turn), but Chad Michael Murray is the headline star. As a film, it’s best compared to a stocking filler: fine, but not as good as your other presents.
Disney’s Hulu’s Family Guy’s Hallmark Channel’s Lifetime Familiar Holiday Movie

- Genre: Animation, Comedy
- Release date: November 28, 2025
- Director: Steve Robertson
- Cast: Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis
- Runtime: 30 minutes
- Where to stream in the UK: Disney Plus
What it’s about: In Family Guy’s take on generic holiday movies, Lois, who works for ‘Big Pie’, travels to a small town in hopes of stealing Peter’s award-winning family secret pie recipe.
Why to watch: If you look at any list of Christmas TV specials, they’re mostly occupied by shows of the past. The festive special has become a bit of a lost art, but Family Guy’s Familiar Holiday Movie has been hailed as one of the show’s best episodes in years.
New Christmas movies on Apple TV
The Family Plan 2

- Genre: Action
- Release date: November 21, 2025
- Director: Simon Cellan Jones
- Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, Kit Harington
- Runtime: 1 hour 47 minutes
- Where to stream in the UK: Apple TV
What it’s about: Dan has planned the perfect vacation for his wife Jessica and their kids to celebrate overseas – until a mysterious figure from his past shows up with unfinished business.
Why to watch: The Family Plan remains one of Apple TV’s more underrated movies; it’s the kind of film you’d pick up at Blockbuster, enjoy, and never think about again. Its sequel, full of dumb fun and bigger action, is an improvement, and the whole family should enjoy it.
New Christmas movies on Sky Cinema and NOW TV
Tinsel Town

- Genre: Comedy
- Release date: December 5, 2025
- Director: Chris Foggin
- Cast: Kiefer Sutherland, Rebel Wilson, Danny Dyer
- Runtime: 1 hour 34 minutes
- Where to stream in the UK: Sky Cinema/NOW TV
What it’s about: Bradley Mack, a failed Hollywood action star, ends up in a small English village to star in a Cinderella pantomime. Here, he encounters a colourful cast of locals, including no-nonsense choreographer Jill.
Why to watch: The idea of one of the Lost Boys starring in a pantomime is a good enough hook for a Christmas movie. Tinsel Town may be predictable and clichéd, but it’s full of wry British humour – and it’ll make you want to go to a panto.
New Christmas movies in cinemas
14. Silent Night, Deadly Night

- Genre: Horror
- Release date: December 12, 2025

- Where to stream in the UK: Exclusively in cinemas
What it’s about: Years after witnessing his parents’ brutal murder on Christmas Eve, Billy dons a Santa outfit and sets out to avenge them in a killing spree.
Why to watch: Silent Night, Deadly Night is an unexpected but welcome remake in the Christmas canon. Blood-soaked, gnarly, and refreshingly original, horror fans should definitely consider a trip to the cinema (without the kids, obviously).
15. Christmas Karma

- Genre: Musical
- Release date: November 14, 2025
- Director: Gurinder Chadha
- Cast: Kunal Nayyar, Leo Suter, Charithra Chandran
- Runtime: 1 hour 58 minutes
- Where to stream in the UK: Sky Store
What it’s about: Mr Sood, a modern-day, joyless Scrooge, is visited by three ghosts who want to change his outlook on life.
Why to watch: Pre-warning: Christmas Karma has been slapped with some rotten reviews, with one critic calling it the worst Christmas film since Red One. However, it’s a star-studded Christmas Carol adaptation from the director of Bend It Like Beckham and Blinded by the Light (one of the best films on BBC iPlayer) — how bad can it be?
