Pudsey's Thread of Hope: When Tom Fletcher's BBC animation is on as he announces song news with son Buzz
The cartoon will finally make its debut this ChristmasTom Fletcher‘s animation Thread Of Hope featuring Pudsey Bear is coming to the BBC this Christmas – but when is it on?
The McFly star has left fans desperate to watch the cartoon after giving them a sneak peek during this year’s Children in Need Appeal.
It has also been announced today that Tom will be releasing the title track for sale, which features his 11-year-old son Buzz.

The father and son left CiN viewers in tears last month when they performed it together.

Tom Fletcher’s Thread of Hope: Who is in it?
Thread of Hope is a brand new animated film written by Tom. The 25-minute cartoon is about a little boy called Jai, who is navigating the death of his father.
Jai embarks on a journey of healing with Pudsey Bear. A synopsis says: “Along the way, they meet other children connected by a golden thread of kindness and empowerment, discovering the transformative power of friendship, courage and love.”
The animation features the voices of several well-known faces. Diversity star Ashley Banjo is the voice of a boxing coach, while Baby Reindeer actress, Jessica Gunning, voices Jai’s mum.
Blue Peter presenter, Shini Muthukrishnan, takes on the part of a dance teacher. Starstruck actor, Nikesh Patel, is Jai’s dad. Child star, Daya Singh Athwal, who is 12, voices Jai.
Tom has written the title track for the animation too, also called Thread of Hope. It is a duet with son Buzz.

How to buy Tom and Buzz’s Thread of Hope song
Tom and Buzz gave fans a listen of Thread of Hope for the first time on Children in Need 2025. The song has been recorded with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Buzz is no stranger to performing like his father. The school boy has starred in the West End musical Starlight Express and the CBeebies show, Andy and the Band: Rock Star School.
Tom has today (Thursday December 18, 2025) announced that fans will now be able to purchase his and Buzz’s track. It will be available to stream and download from Christmas Eve (December 24).
You will be able to buy Thread of Hope from all the usual online music outlets, including Amazon Music and Apple Music/ iTunes. The accompanying music video will drop onto Children in Need’s official YouTube channel on the same day.

When is Thread of Hope on this Christmas?
Thread of Hope will premiere on the BBC on Christmas Eve. It will air at 10.20am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday December 24.
The BBC will then air the touching animation again on CBeebies and CBBC at 5pm on Saturday 27 December.
Tom said: “It’s been amazing seeing Pudsey brought to life in animation for the first time. It was such an honour. It’s Pudsey’s 40th anniversary and to be on Christmas Eve is really special.”
