‘Narcissistic piece of work’ or ‘brave victim’? These 15 tweets prove how much Should I Marry a Murderer's Caroline Muirhead has divided the internet
"The reaction to Should I Marry a Murderer is psychotic"
Should I Marry a Murderer revolves around Caroline Muirhead, a Scottish doctor who reported her fiancé to the police for killing a man. She’s proven to be a divisive figure in the wake of the Netflix doc; some people think she’s “brave”, others think she’s “crazy”.
It’s an unimaginable situation. Muirhead met Alexander “Sandy” McKellar through Tinder. They quickly bonded, and two months later, he proposed.
As they were gearing up to spend Christmas with her family, Sandy made a massive confession. In 2017, he’d been driving home from a party with his brother when he hit a cyclist: Tony Parsons. Sandy told Muirhead that he died on impact, so they buried the body – but, according to the police, he may have still been alive and could have survived with proper treatment.
“My brain wasn’t in a position to go to the police. My brain still wasn’t accepting what I’d been told. The underlying sense of panic was so massive, I actually couldn’t address it in that moment,” she explained.

Muirhead eventually reported him to the police and continued dating him, allowing her to gather evidence. By the end of the new documentary, it’s clear her mental health suffered as a result, and she submitted several complaints to Police Scotland about the way she was treated.
However, whether it’s all of the videos Muirhead can be seen taking of herself or all of her conflicting emotions about Sandy, she’s left Netflix viewers split.

Why are so many tearing down Caroline? She called the police, marked the location and recorded a confession (of sorts) from him. Blinded by love yes – but stupid, she was not! Mid 20s too. Very brave. #shouldimarryamurderer

Watched Should I Marry a Murderer and over the 3 episodes all I ended up feeling was utter contempt for that stupid narcissistic woman. What a piece of work.

Just finished watching #ShouldIMarryAMurderer on Netflix. Caroline Muirhead is an incredibly brave woman. She was treated so poorly by the system, it’s actually quite shocking. I wish her the best for the future.

Should I Marry A Murderer? on Netflix is insane wdym your fiance tells you that he accidentally killed someone and buried him and you still introduced him to your family & kept the wedding on because you were embarrassed to have another failed relationship? pic.twitter.com/uO0znWFTpG

I came on here to see what was being said about #ShouldIMarryaMurder and I'm appalled once again with the human condition to demonize imperfect heroes.
No witness is perfect and if not for Caroline Muirhead, Tony Parsons would still be laid to rest in a cull pit.— Melly (@2403MRM) May 5, 2026

The nutjob woman on Should I Marry a Murderer is the least sympathetic victim I’ve ever seen in a documentary. WHY is she constantly filming herself?? The vanity is off the charts.

As far as documentaries go Caroline Muirhead is by far the strongest mf’er, to go through the utter shit she did because of absolute negligence from professionals, and still have the utter balls to tell her whole story and move on, you go girl 💪🏻

“Should i marry a murderer.” The most outrageous person on it is Caroline. She completely humiliated herself. If this show had tried to portray her as doing the right thing, it would have done so. Instead, it depicted her as completely insane @netflix

The ‘Should I Marry a Murderer’ discourse online is yet more proof that women are hated just for being women. Bc tell me why the entire tl is full of ppl saying they hated her more than the dude who literally killed someone and covered it up?

Watched Should I Marry A Murderer and looked at the comments to no surprise everyone attacking the lassie. She made some daft decisions but, christ, no one knows what they'd do in a situation like that. She clearly needed help and didn't get it.

This docuseries is wild, Caroline is actually unhinged
What do you mean she found out her fiancée is a killer, stayed and still went on to introduce him to her family? pic.twitter.com/HbHVlAPUfv

The reaction on X to Should I Marry a Murderer is psychopathic, how can anyone not have complete sympathy for her being completely let down and left in danger?

I admire Caroline for doing this series – she knew she wouldn’t look too good in it but she did it anyway. And thankfully Tony Parsons was found and his family got to have a funeral. For justice the brothers should have got longer sentences. #shouldimarryamurderer

Sandy was later convicted of culpable homicide and sentenced to 12 years in prison. His brother, Robert McKellar, was sentenced to just over five months for obstruction of justice.
“He wasn’t convicted of murder, but he did take an innocent man’s life. So for me he is a coward and he is a killer,” Muirhead said.
