Signora Volpe series 3 is coming soon, and leading actress Emilia Fox has given her fans an update about the upcoming episodes.

Fans of the exquisite cosy crime drama will know that it’s been on our screens ever since 2022, with the second series landing in 2024. So it’s high time for more episodes.

Is there a series 3 of Signora Volpe?

Acorn TV previously confirmed there would be a series 3 of Signora Volpe, and now Emilia Fox has confirmed the series has already been filmed – and will be with us shortly.

Fans of the show will know that Emilia portrays Sylvia, a disillusioned former British MI6 spy turned detective who started a new life in the beautiful heart of Italy. But, of course, she soon found out trouble follows her wherever she goes…

Much like cosy crime dramas such as Agatha Raisin, The Madame Blanc Mysteries, and A Taste for Murder, we follow a leading character with a penchant for solving crimes. Throw in a stunning location, and it’s a no-brainer.

Signora Volpe follows the always elegantly dressed Sylvia Fox as she solves murder mysteries in the sunny climes of Umbria, Italy. Oh, and there’s a rather handsome love interest too!

This week, Silent Witness favourite Emilia gave her fans an update on the show. Posting on her official Instagram account, she wrote: “Definitely time to get the summer dresses out! A fun night in town to see a screening of an episode from next season’s #SignoraVolpe3 @acorn_tv.”

Unsurprisingly, her followers were thrilled. One replied: “I can’t wait for season 3.” Another added: “Love your dress and cannot wait to watch season 3 of Signora Volpe.”

A third wrote: “Sooo looking forward to what adventures you’ll be getting into in Italy, and what outfits you’ll be wearing while doing it!”

“Looking forward to the new season, it brings me joy,” said another, “it makes me feel like I’m on holiday – minus the murder.”

What’s the plot of Signora Volpe series 3?

Series 3 of Signora Volpe finds former British spy Sylvia Fox mentally and physically recovered from her abduction at the end of series 2. Back to enjoying her life in Italy, there is still one thing playing on her mind – she’s still waiting for answers from her ex-husband, Adam Haines, about his past dealings with her kidnapper.

Across the season, Sylvia Fox investigates the murder of a local winery owner, and probes the mystery of a “beautiful young man” found dead in the bed of a power couple. However, they claim they’ve never seen him before. Meanwhile, Sylvia’s relationship with Carabinieri captain Giovanni Riva deepens, but the finalisation of Riva’s divorce and his desire to set down roots in Umbria threatens Sylvia’s sense of independence.

Who’s in the cast?

Emilia Fox leads the cast as Sylvia Fox. Of course, she’s best known for playing Dr Nikki Alexander in the cast of Silent Witness. It’s a role she played since 2004.

The series also stars Game of Thrones’ Tara Fitzgerald as Sylvia’s sister, Isabel Vitale. Italian actor Giovanni Cirfiera will return as Sylvia’s love interest Giovanni Riva.

Meanwhile, Beyond Paradise’s Jamie Bamber returns as Adam Haines in a recurring role, alongside Buffy Davis, who returns as Miriam Cavendish.

Also completing the ensemble cast are:

  • Elena Di Cioccio as Brigadiere Roberta Barzini.
  • Matteo Carlomagno as Matteo Vitale.
  • Marianne Leoni as Raffaella Tasso.
  • Imma Piro as Antonella Vitale.

Where is Signora Volpe filmed?

Signora Volpe is filmed on location across the Lazio and Umbria regions of Italy. Much of the series is set in the picturesque medieval hilltop town Panicale in Umbria, which overlooks Lake Trasimeno.

The countryside property used as Sylvia’s on-screen Italian home is located in the town of Bracciano, roughly 30 miles north of Rome in the Lazio region.

Production frequently uses the broader Lazio region, including the Italian capital of Rome, for various urban and investigative scenes.
