The Chase viewers 'feel bad' for player following 'embarrassing' episode: 'These teams aren't improving'
Oh dear! The Chase returned to ITV on Monday (January 26) evening with a new episode, and the contestants didn’t have much luck.
Host Bradley Walsh returned and welcomed four new players — Alison, Jim, Rose and Trevor — who all went head-to-head with Jenny Ryan, also known as The Vixen.

What happened on The Chase last night on ITV?
During the episode, Alison, a former teacher, was the first contestant to face the podium. She quickly made her mark by securing a substantial £5,000 during the cash builder.
Unfortunately, her strong start didn’t last long, as she was eliminated only minutes into the tense head-to-head challenge.
Stepping up next was Manchester native Jim, who was determined not to repeat the same fate and approached the Chaser with a very different outcome in mind.
He demonstrated his sharp quiz skills by banking an impressive £6,000 in the cash builder and successfully bringing back his winnings to the jackpot.
The momentum shifted dramatically when social media manager Rose approached the podium. The London-based contestant struggled in the cash builder, failing to secure any money at all after missing several questions that viewers might have considered straightforward.
Host Brad then stepped in to comfort her, explaining that many contestants had found themselves in the same situation before and that it didn’t automatically rule her out of reaching the final chase.
Jenny then laid out her choices ahead of the head-to-head showdown: a tempting high offer of £65,000, a neutral option of £0, or a risky low offer of minus £1,000.
After consulting with the rest of the team, Rose opted to take the low offer, a decision that reduced the group’s jackpot to £5,000. Although her cash builder round got off to a difficult start, she ultimately redeemed herself by earning a spot in the final chase alongside Jim.
Finally, Trevor was the last contestant to face the Chaser, having added £4,000 to the prize pot during the cash builder.
Sadly, the pressure proved too much, and he became the second player to be knocked out in the head-to-head round.
The Final Chase
With just two players making it to the Final Chase, it was down to Rose and Jim to try win £2.5k each.
In the ultimate round, the duo only managed to answer 12 questions correctly within two minutes. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t enough to outscore the Chaser.
With a minute to spare, Jenny caught them, leaving Rose and Jim going home empty-handed.
Following a rollercoaster episode, viewers appeared captivated and reacted passionately online.

‘These teams aren’t improving’
“Absolutely embarrassing final chase tbh. Rose being there and contributing nothing was the icing on the diarrhoea cake,” one user wrote on X.
“These teams aren’t improving,” another person shared.
“Feel bad for Jim. He did alright. At least made some confident guesses most of the time when uncertain. Just burdened by a dreadful team,” a third remarked.
“The Chase is a joke now,” a fourth insisted.
Meanwhile, a fifth echoed: “Hahahha what the [bleep] was that.”
