Of course, she’s bast known for playing Connie Beauchamp in both Holby City and Casualty, on and off between 2004 and 2021. Connie remains an iconic character. Fans will know the character for her thirsty sex life, her drug addiction arc, and a harrowing brain tumour storyline. Amanda is a breast cancer survivor herself.
Amanda has been on our screens for five decades, having made her first TV appearance in the 1977 episode of Just William. She was just 10 at the time. Later, she went on to play Tracy Edwards in Grange Hill, and Sheila in Murphy’s Mob.

Good Ship Murder episode 4 guest cast: John Michie plays Alfie Blake
Who is Alfie Blake?
Alfie Blake is a “pop-pioneer photographer”, hoping to recapture the magic of his former years by recreating an iconic photograph of his long-lost muse, the model Chelsea Meadows. But he is then found murdered, with his body discovered at the scene of the original photo shoot.
What is John Michie famous for?
Burma-born John Michie, 69, is perfectly cast as the creative artist in The Good Ship Murder series 3 episode 4. Like his co-star Amanda Mealing, the actor is probably most famous for his role in Holby City. He played Guy Self in the medical drama between 2013 and 2022.
Coronation Street fans will know him as Karl Munro in the ITV soap, a role he played from 2011 to 2013. He’s also popped up as Mr Walker in EastEnders, and Dr Mark Smith in Brookside – so it’s just Emmerdale to go!
Other significant roles have included Trevor Moon in Moon and Son, Tim Morris in London Bridge, and DI Robbie Ross in Taggart. More recently, he’s appeared in Karen Pirie, Ridley, and London Kills.
What happened to John Michie’s daughter in real life?
Tragically, John Michie’s own life became the subject of newspaper headlines in 2017. In September of that year, his 24-year-old daughter Louella Fletcher-Michie died at the Bestival music festival in Dorset. She had taken the recreational drug 2C-P. Police subsequently arrested her 28-year-old friend, Ceon Broughton, on suspicion of murder.
In February 2019, Ceon was found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence, as well as supplying a Class A drug. The judge sentenced him to eight and a half years in prison. His manslaughter conviction was later quashed after Court of Appeal judges ruled that Fletcher-Michie’s death had been a tragic accident. But the conviction for supplying a Class A drug was withheld.
As a result of the tragedy, John stepped away from acting for a short time.
