Van Der Valk series 4 continues on ITV with episode 3, Secrets in Amsterdam, and the finale’s guest cast includes some recognisable faces.
This week, the Amsterdam-set detective drama sees no-nonsense detective Piet van der Valk investigate a series of murders that draw him and his team into a cryptic puzzle. The case could not only unlock a potentially life-saving medical breakthrough, but also have a major impact on the health of sick pathologist Hendrik Davie.

Van Der Valk series 4 episode 3 cast: Sam Crane plays Freddie Klink
Oxford University graduate Sam Crane, 46, plays Freddie Klink in the final episode of Van Der Valk series 4. He’s the son of playwright Richard Crane and theatre director Faynia Williams, so it’s no surprise that he’s a well known face in the world of theatre.
On the stage, he has had leading roles in productions of Farinelli and the King, 1984, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
TV viewers probably know him best for portraying Fred Walters in Desperate Romantics, Luke in Helen McCrory drama Fearless, and Alan in The Trial of Christine Keeler. He also played Patrick Plunket in The Crown.
More recently, Sam starred as Andrew Porter in The Deal, and Anders Larsson in Trigger Point series 3.

David Shields portrays Ruben Mesman
British actor David Shields portrays Ruben Mesman and, like his co-star Sam Crane, he’s also a University of Oxford graduate!
An actor of more than a decade, David is best known for playing Captain Everett Blakely in the Tom Hanks-backed WW2 drama Masters of the Air in 2024.
This year, he played Jordan Henderson in the football drama Dear England. He’s also known for playing Michael Smart in the Black Mirror episode Demon 79, Colonel Avery in The Liberator, Ronan in Doctor Who, and Colin Tennant in The Crown.

Amrita Acharia stars as Inge Palmberg
Thirty-eight-year-old Amrita Acharia is a British actress of Nepalese–Ukrainian origins. She stars as Inge Palmberg in Van Der Valk this week.
Ganme of Thrones fans will know her as Irri in the HBO series, a role she played between 2011 and 2012.
She’s also famous for playing Dr Ruby Walker in the ITV series The Good Karma Hospital. From 2017 to 2022, she portrayed the NHS junior doctor who, faced with frustration at work and issues in her personal life, responds to an advert to work at a public hospital in the southern Indian state of Kerala.
Amrita’s other notable roles include Amina Sahir in Acquitted, Holly Fox in The Sister, Maya in Takeover, and Aabis in The Serpent Queen. She narrates Tiger Island, and has appeared in multiple films including Black Dog, Sibi and Dan, and Genesis.

The core cast of Van Der Valk return for series 4. Hustle and Mad Dogs actor Marc Warren reprises the titular role of dogged Commissaris Piet Van Der Valk.
The detective is once again joined by The Musketeers actress Maimie McCoy as Inspector Lucienne Hassell, and Just Act Normal’s Azan Ahmed, who plays Sergeant Eddie Suleman.
Domina’s Darrell D’Silva returns as team pathologist Hendrik Davie, while Sanditon’s Emma Fielding is back as Chief Commissaris Julia Dahlman.
Dutch actress Loes Haverkort stars Lena Linderman, now Piet’s girlfriend. She’s previously appeared in multiple Dutch TV series, including Oogappels, and Moedermaffia!
German actress Kim Riedle – star of Verbotene Liebe – returns as Piet’s former flame Kalie Tenkers. Mike Libanon returns as bar owner Cliff Palache.
