This has seen the soap revert back to its old format of hour-long episodes instead of the newer format of half hour, week-daily episodes. And, rather surprisingly, fans have now called for the old format to return on a permanent basis. It means more schedule changes for the ITV soaps. With football coverage often airing on the evenings, it means that Coronation Street’s usual schedule has had to move out of the way for a while. However, due to the new soap power hour kicking off this year, Corrie now airs half-an-hour episodes Monday-Friday. But, now that it’s sporting season, the soap has reverted back to hour-long episodes over the last couple of weeks. And, fans are actually loving them again despite previously complaining that an hour was too long. Even when the World Cup ends, fans have now called for the soap to return to the old pattern of Monday, Wednesday and Friday hour-long episodes. One fan on X commented: “Feel like I owe some of you an apology. I was quite vocal about how much I was looking forward to the return to 30 minute episodes but honestly, the hour long eps this week have been better than anything we’ve had all year.” Another person shared: “Brilliant having an hour episode! The 30 mins ones with the ad break doesn’t give enough time to get into it.” A third fan contributed: “Wooooo let’s keep having these long episodes please, hate the 20 minute episodes, bad idea.” A fourth person added: “How great was that to have 2 evenings of hour long episodes? I absolutely hate the bite size episodes they now do, it’s impossible to really get into the story lines these days.
