But exactly what that is has remained under-wraps. She’s been clearly keeping secrets, has completely lied about her past to Shona and the Platts. And while she seems interested in David, fans have noticed it’s not just him who she’s trying to impress. But actually, it looks like she’s trying to please quite a lot of residents on the streets. And soap fans have seen quite a similar thing before – with John Sugden in Emmerdale. Jodie has been trying to make herself impressive (Credit: ITV) What is going on with Jodie? Jodie immediately had a connection to Emmerdale from her very first scene, as she was bundled in the back of newly-returned Graham Foster, during Corriedale. However, that’s not what she told her family in Coronation Street. Instead, she pretended she was in an abusive relationship, and was tied up in her ex-boyfriend’s van. But that was a story she stole from someone else at a support group. Article Continues Below Read all the latest Spoilers We just recently got an explanation on how she and Graham were connected. He explained in Emmerdale that he was hired to get rid of a “problem named Jodie” but after the crash, he terminated the contract. And so, by Graham no longer going after her, Jodie was free to roam Coronation Street. Already, Corrie fans have wondered if Jodie could go on to be like Emmerdale’s former serial killer, Meena Jutla. But now, they believe her path is following a more recent Emmerdale storyline. Earlier this week, Jodie rushed into the burning cafe, determined to save Roy’s life. And when she got him out, she clearly enjoyed the praise she got from everyone.Don't miss a single story! And those of you who have watched tonight’s episode (April 16) on ITVX, will know that she was quick to use Lisa’s badge to steal a tablet from a little girl – just after she heard David talk about how much Lily wanted one. So, by doing all of these actions for the praise, fans have a new theory that Jodie is going to be Coronation Street’s version of John Sugden. John needed to be the hero in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV) Coronation Street fans think storyline is similar to John’s Emmerdale plot For fans of both soaps, the name John Sugden would immediately bring back horrible memories. He killed Nate, poisoned Jacob, pushed Aaron off a cliff, and even held Mack in an underground bunker for weeks. But he was doing all of that because he weirdly wanted to save people. He had an extreme hero complex – which is a real thing. John would make bad things happen so that he could then save the day, and some Corrie fans think this is the way Jodie is heading. Yes, she didn’t cause the fire at the cafe, but she was the first one to actually run into the building. There was no hesitation at all. Taking to X, fans theorised: “Does Jodie have some sort of hero complex? The way she just ran into that fire?” Another agreed: “They’ve just had a hero complex storyline in Emmerdale, so chances are you’re bang on with that theory.” In another X thread, one viewer penned: “I wonder if she’s a similar case to John from Emmerdale. She’ll do all she can to appear like a hero or samaritan. The only difference is she might not directly create all of the situations where she’s able to do that like John.” “I bet Jodie has some type of hero complex, so she needs to make herself balance out her normal evil actions,” another commented.
