Share By Joel Harley Sep 12 2025 By Joel Harley Sep 12 2025 This week’s EastEnders also saw the return of Callum’s awful father, Jonno Highway. Jonno’s unexpected return to Walford set in a shocking chain of events which saw him dead on the kitchen floor… and left Callum and Johnny feeling randy. Settle in, Ballum fans, you’re in for a ride. Callum’s dad died as Johnny interfered Callum intercepted when Eve fell victim to a homophobic attack outside The Albert. Hearing a cry of ‘stupid lesbian,’ Callum rushed to the recuse… only to come face-to-face with dad Jonno. After arresting Jonno, Callum determined his dad hadn’t changed a bit, and was more than happy to continue as they were. Interfering Johnny, however, had other ideas, and set about arranging a family reconciliation. This went about as well as you’d expect, with Jonno suffering a heart attack when Callum realised that the old man was only after a handout. As Callum rushed to get Anthony, Jonno took a turn for the worse, and died. Afterwards, Johnny lied about Jonno’s last words, telling Callum that his dad had expressed some form of repentance on his deathbed. Or death-floor, maybe. Moments later, and their affair resumed. Vile homophobic Jonno would be spinning in his grave. Or on the floor, as it were. EastEnders review: Nigel and Phil escaped to the countryside After learning that Julie had cheated on him several years ago, Nigel was feeling emotional. He tasked Phil with taking him away for the day, and they set off for the countryside, where Nigel had buried a time capsule with Grant when they were children. Nigel and Phil’s treasure hunt brought us some of EastEnders’ most heartwarming scenes we’ve had in years. First, as Nigel attempted to scale a mighty gate, then later, as the pair shared a heart-to-heart against a gorgeously shot country backdrop. “You can be a bit of a bully when you want to be,” Nigel said as he reflected on their friendship. “And other times… you’re the nicest person I know.” The heartwarming scenes continued when they returned to Walford, as Phil finally set aside his rivalry with Julie to do the right thing. And, as she returned home from her job interview, she found a replacement set of chickens (RIP David Peckham) and a smiling Phil Mitchell. No, you’re crying. Also on EastEnders this week In the aftermath of Eve’s attack, she shared a moment with Suki in The Albert. Is a Sukeve reunion on the cards? Let’s hope so – the sooner we can move on and pretend that ridiculous teenage surrogate story never happened, the better.
