She is the sister of Lynne Hobbs, Belinda Peacock and Kat Moon, aunt to Zoe Slater and granddaughter of Big Mo Harris. The family came to live in the Square on September 18, 2000. Charcterised as timid and shy, Mo was completely different from her gobby siblings. She had more manners than most her family put together, and never addressed her elders by their first names. Mo suffered terribly at the hands of husband Trevor (Credit: BBC) Abusive marriage to Trevor Morgan At the time of her arrival, Mo was married to handyman Trevor Morgan. But their relationship was far from a happy one. Trevor was a violent controlling bully, who inflicted frequent physical and emotional abuse on his wife. He was hated by the rest of the Slaters – particularly Kat – who could see Trevor was trying to isolate Mo from her family. During one particular jealous rampage, Trevor pushed Mo’s face into her Christmas dinner after she arrived late home. As the abuse continued, twisted Trevor made Mo feel as if it was all her own fault. She reluctantly agreed to start trying for a baby, but changed his mind when he raped her as punishment for buying a hat to wear to her sister Lynne’s wedding. Mo went back on the pill, but kept it secret from her husband. Mo was sentenced to time in prison for ‘attacking’ Trevor (Credit: BBC) Why did Little Mo go to prison in EastEnders? On New Year’s Eve 2001, Trevor attacked Little Mo in Pauline Fowler’s kitchen. She fought back in self-defense and hit him over the head with an iron. Mo thought she’d killed Trevor, but when she and her sisters returned to Number 45 he was nowhere to be seen. Trevor then took his revenge by reporting Little Mo to the police. She was arrested, charged and put on trial, with the jury finding her guilty of attempted murder. She spent time in prison, but was released after Trevor did a deal with the Slaters. He promised to withdraw his evidence if Kat didn’t press charges for him assaulting Mo. As Little Mo began divorce proceedings, she embarked on a romance with Billy Mitchell. But evil Trevor wasn’t prepared to lose her to another man. He made plans to end his life – and take her with him! Events reached a terrifying climax on Halloween 2002. Trevor took Little Mo and his baby son Sean hostage at the Slater’s and set fire to the place. Sharon Watts’ firefighter fiancé Tom Banks battled through the flames to save Mo and Sean. Tom then went back in for Trevor, but the house exploded, killing them both. Finding true love with Billy Mitchell Little Mo’s adorable romance with Billy Mitchell captured the hearts of the nation. The pair first became friends while Mo was still married to Trevor. It developed into something more after Mo was released from prison and Billy admitted how much he cared for her. Despite Trevor’s numerous attempts to ruin their relationship, love conquered all. Billy popped the question in one of EastEnders’ most memorable proposals when he spelt out ‘marry me’ using alphabet spaghetti. She accepted and there wasn’t a dry eye in Walford as Little Mo married her man on Christmas Day 2002. Freddie is Little Mo’s son (Credit: BBC) Rape and giving birth to baby Freddie Little Mo and Billy were blissfully happy for a while, but then Graham Foster came into their lives. He played darts with Mo’s dad Charlie and the pair struck up a friendship, bonding over their shared love of crosswords. But while Mo thought she’d found a caring mate, Graham had a hidden dark side. One night after closing at The Vic, Graham trapped Mo inside and raped her. The terrifying attack took place shortly before her first wedding anniversary to Bill. After telling her family what had happened, Little Mo reported Graham to the police. She underwent STI testing and discovered she’d fallen pregnant. Little Mo refused to terminate the pregnancy, and Billy was unable to cope. Mo temporarily left Walford, during which time she gave birth to her son, who she named Frederick (Freddie) William Mitchell. Graham stood trial and was sent to prison, but while Little Mo and Billy reconciled, their marriage ultimately crumbled. But unlike most toxic splits in Walford, the exes remained good friends. Little Mo’s affair with Alfie In 2005 Little Mo shocked viewers by having brief relationship with brother-in-law Alfie Moon. The unlikely couple grew close after Alfie’s split from Mo’s sister Kat, but fans didn’t really take to the pairing. Alfie and Mo were just as soppy as one another and both needed someone with a bit more oomph. Alfie quickly realised what everyone knew – he was far better with Kat. They got back together, leaving Mo single again. Mo left the soap in 2006 (Credit: BBC/YouTube) Why did Little Mo leave Walford? It looked as if Little Mo had found her happy ever after when she began dating dishy doctor Oliver Cousins. But then her world was turned upside down when Freddie sustained a mysterious head injury. Mo accuses Ben Mitchell of harming Freddie, although no one believed her. Test results later revealed Freddie had a low platelet count, meaning his blood could not properly clot. Little Mo was cleared by the authorities of hurting her son, but the locals remained suspicious. Eventually Ben ‘fessed up that he had lashed out at Freddie after the tot pulled his hearing aid out. But Mo remained public enemy number one, with Peggy Mitchell branding her a child beater during one particularly nasty showdown. After realising Oliver was developing feelings for barmaid Dawn Swann, Little Mo decided she needed a clean break. She and Freddie left Walford on May 26, 2006 for a new life in Barnstaple, Devon. Fans are still holding out for Mo’s return (Credit: ITV) Will Little Mo return to EastEnders? It’s been almost two decades since Little Mo left Walford, and she remains living in Barnstaple. Her son Freddie recently left Albert Square too, after reuniting with the rest of the Slaters in 2022. Freddie grew up believing that Billy was his birth father, and only discovered the truth in 2023. This was a very painful time for both Freddie and Mo, as she was forced to revisit her traumatic past. It is unclear whether Little Mo will make a comeback, and actress Kacey Ainsworth has always ruled out a return to EastEnders. But with family connections still in Albert Square, it’s not beyond possibility. Read more: Who’s leaving, joining and returning to EastEnders? Complete list of cast exits, arrivals and returns.
