After discovering that Alfie and Stacey are in cahoots about something, Jean leaps to the conclusion that Hayley is in trouble. Close – it’s actually Zoe, who Alfie believes is in hot water with some Spanish thugs. Convinced that Alfie’s gone rogue in an attempt to help out his ex and their daughter, Jean shares some sage words of advice. While the situation actually has nothing to do with Hayley, that does leave us wondering who she was, and what happened between her and Alfie in the first place. Hayley Slater is Kat and Stacey’s cousin, and Jean’s niece. She first arrived in Walford in 2018, clashing with Stacey by flirting with her husband, Martin. Article continues below Read all the latest spoilers However, she had an even more explosive secret up her sleeve (or in her belly) with the bombshell news that she’d had a one-night stand with Alfie while he was living with Kat in Spain. After learning that Kat had cheated on him with a barman, Alfie responded by cheating on her too, with cousin Hayley. She left soon after telling him that she was pregnant, leaving Alfie under the illusion that she’d gone to have an abortion. However, when she returned, she did so with his very-much-born daughter in tow, Cherry Slater. Hayley gave birth to Alfie’s daughter, Cherry (Credit: BBC) Where is Hayley Slater now? The truth about Hayley, Alfie and Cherry came out on Christmas Day 2018, when Kat discovered a gift from Hayley to the father of her child. During the ensuing fallout, Alfie got into a scuffle with Hayley and Kat, who pushed him down the stairs – leaving him for dead. However, Alfie survived the fall and, as Hayley and Kat discussed what to do, snatched Cherry. He later returned his daughter, but it became increasingly clear that Hayley was profoundly struggling with her mental health. Hayley was admitted to a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt. Having fled the hospital, she left Cherry in Kat and Alfie’s care, before being reunited with her daughter (offscreen) in 2020. She has been absent from Walford ever since her exit in 2019. After her exit from the soap in 2018, it was reported that actress Katie Jarvis had begun work as a security guard at the high street chain B&M Bargains. In 2020, a court sentenced her to 200 hours of unpaid work and a 60-hour rehabilitation order after charging her with a ‘racially aggravated’ brawl. Since then, according to The Mirror, she began work in a garage, where she reportedly still works now.
