What happened in EastEnders tonight: Linda said goodbye to The Vic and Suki rumbled Avani's pregnancy

Linda put The Vic behind her

Linda Carter said goodbye to The Queen Vic in EastEnders tonight (Tuesday, July 22), leaving new landlady Kat Moon in charge as she cruised off to begin her new life. With the ink not even dry on the paperwork, she and her family packed their bags and completed their move.

Elsewhere, Avani’s pregnancy secret didn’t last long, as Suki discovered what she was hiding. She was shocked to learn that Avani’s planning on having an abortion, but can Avani count on her to keep quiet?

Meanwhile, Phil and Julie had very different ideas about how to best care for Nigel, and butted heads over the day-to-day of their new arrangement. And, with the police questioning Ravi, Priya enlisted Harry’s help to hide the evidence.

Here’s everything that happened on EastEnders tonight.

Linda moved on in EastEnders tonight

The dust had barely settled on the Vic sale, but already Linda and her family were almost fully packed and ready to go. Her contemplative mood was soon ruined by the arrival of Bert and Ernie, charging about their new home as Kat inspected their new abode.

Later, as they continued to pile their boxes into the street, Linda and Elaine watched Oscar from afar. Elaine felt that Linda needed to get everything out in the open, and should tell him about Annie.

Linda decided to air this secret in the middle of the market. This proved to be a mistake, as Oscar immediately dropped the hint that Max should be told, if only so he could see his dad’s expression when he found out.

Lauren reassured Linda that Oscar wouldn’t even know where to find Max, but agreed to talk to her brother regardless.

Back at the pub, Linda completed the handover to Kat. Memories of Mick weighing heavily on her shoulders, she fretted that she’d made a huge mistake. Kat reassured her that she was leaving for good reasons, and offered to leave Mick’s scarf and pictures up behind the bar, as tribute.

After reassurance from Oscar that he wouldn’t be telling Max about Annie, Linda bade a fond farewell to The Vic. Outside, she shared a warm hug with Tracey, before bidding goodbye to her home. Ready to start the next chapter of her life, Linda climbed into the back of a taxi with Johnny, Ollie and Annie, all set for their cruise.

Kojo and Harry on the tube in EastEnders

Harry and Kojo hid the evidence

Avani was taking a quiet moment to reflect on yesterday’s pregnancy news. The morning calm was broken, along with the door, as the police raided the house.

At the station, an officer explained to Ravi that police were searching his home and properties. Jack, meanwhile, watched the interview from another room, determined to make his love rival suffer.

Back at home, the Panesars stood outside as the police searched their home. After taking a call from Ravi’s lawyer, Priya rushed over to see Harry.

Hoping to prove his innocence, Harry agreed to move drugs from one of Ravi’s properties before the police could find them. With Priya wanting to keep her immaculately manicured hands clean, Harry returned home, where he found his mum waiting. He was appalled to learn that she’d been the one who reported Ravi to the police.

After pointing out how much worse she’d made the situation, he argued with Kojo too, telling him that this was all his fault for flushing the drugs in the first place.

Wanting to make amends, Kojo offered to help. This gave Executive Producer Ben Wadey an excuse to play with his new train set again, as the brothers-in-arms set about moving Ravi’s drugs… in two huge hold-alls… on a busy tube train… in front of a police officer.

Thankfully they made it though, and Jack was forced to release a smug Ravi from the station. Returning to Walford, Ravi questioned Harry over whether he’d been the grass.

Harry seemed successful in convincing Ravi of his innocence, but he wasn’t off the hook just yet. With the police sniffing around, he still needed somewhere to store the drugs. And, like it or not, Kojo’s flat seemed like the ideal place.

Suki stumbled on Avani’s pregnancy secret in EastEnders tonight

Avani met with Barney in the café. She asked him to help her out in sourcing some ‘abortion pills’ online, which he rightfully pointed out was a dangerous idea. Instead, he suggested, the best course of action might be to tell her mum about the pregnancy.

Following Ravi’s release, Avani went to see her mum at the restaurant. She was about to open up about the pregnancy when Ravi returned, the ensuring argument putting paid to her plans to share her pregnancy news.

Taking matters into her own hands, she browsed a family planning website at home. Doing so on the family computer with her back to the door proved a huge mistake, as she was immediately caught out by Suki.

Avani confirmed that Joel’s the father, then revealed that she planned on having an abortion – without her parents’ knowledge. But can she rely on Suki to keep quiet?

Phil made an effort in EastEnders tonight

Settling into their new living arrangement, Julie clashed with Phil over Nigel’s dietary needs as Phil registered his disgust at a healthy breakfast of fruit and avocado toast. Nigel always has a fry up for breakfast, Phil pointed out, immediately shattering his previous argument that only he knows what’s best for Nigel.

A fry up for breakfast every day!? It’s a wonder he’s survived as long as he has. Also learned: Phil Mitchell has never eaten an avocado in his life.

Later, Julie and Nigel continued to rub Phil up the wrong way by watching a subtitled film. Talk of spending the afternoon doing a puzzle had Phil even more annoyed – after all, he and Nigel usually spend their days watching Pointless and ‘that one with the scams.’

Frustrated by Julie ruining their daily routine, Phil flounced off. It was Lexi’s birthday, and he joined her and Billy in The Vic as she watched a video from Lola, sending her best birthday wishes from beyond the grave.

For once, it was Billy who was the voice of reason, and Phil seemed to take it on board as he suggested a compromise with Julie. Returning home, she extended an olive branch in the form of a packet of organic bacon, and they set out hashing a plan to make things work for Nigel’s sake.
