Features Jack Branning Ravi Gulati Zoe Slater Share By Joel Harley Sep 19 2025 By Joel Harley Sep 19 2025 Jack Branning found his patsy for shooting Zoe Slater in EastEnders last night (Thursday, September 18), as he framed Greg Dolan for the crime. This came as Dolan broke into The Queen Vic and took Kat and Zoe hostage, demanding a wedge of cash for his trouble. Meanwhile, across the Square, Ravi and Jack shared another confrontation, as Jack prepared to confess to shooting Zoe. Distracted by the Dolan situation, he and Ravi rushed to the rescue… giving Jack a chance to plant the gun on Dolan. And, as the police hauled Dolan away, they seemed satisfied that they’d gotten their man. But are things really so cut and dry? Here’s all the ways in which Jack’s plan could fall apart. Jack and Ravi’s prints should be all over the gun (Credit: BBC) The prints The gun has done the rounds since arriving on the Square, to-ing and fro-ing from Jack to Ravi after initially being found by Oscar. Only minutes prior to being smuggled onto Dolan’s person, Ravi had been pointing it at Jack in another tense confrontation. Given that they didn’t exactly have the time to wipe it thoroughly clean, one can only imagine the amount of prints and DNA evidence that thing must be smothered in. The one person whose prints aren’t all over the gun? Greg Dolan. Why didn’t Dolan deny shooting Zoe? (Credit: BBC) Dolan’s denial There were multiple times during their confrontation where Zoe accused Dolan of shooting her. At no point did he deny doing so. Presumably, once he regains consciousness he’ll deny having anything to do with the shooting. Granted, it’s unlikely the police are going to take Dolan’s word for it, but the thought didn’t seem to cross Jack’s mind regardless. Given the risk involved, surely it would have been easier to just chuck the thing in the canal? Or melt it down as Jack had originally planned? Jack has no idea whether Dolan has an alibi or not (Credit: BBC) Alibi? What alibi? Talking of Dolan, who’s to say that he doesn’t have an alibi for when Zoe was shot? While the guy doesn’t seem to have a lot of friends, he’s mobile enough to have been out and about when Zoe was shot. CCTV never seems to be a concern for the residents of Walford, but it’s another unnecessary risk. “Have the police checked if Greg has an alibi for that night? He could have been in his local with the darts team in a tournament or ordered a fish supper from his local chippie plus there must surely be cctv outside the Vic?” pointed out one fan on X. Lest we forget, Dolan was holding the Slaters hostage with a blade when Jack and Ravi intervened. From Tommy’s arrival to Stacey’s attempt to flee, there were multiple occasions when it would have made sense for him to pull a gun. And yet, somehow, he never did. That’s because the gun was never his, of course, and something the Walford police will no doubt fail to question. Read more: Who’s leaving, joining and returning to EastEnders?
