WARNING: This article contains spoilers for today’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming now on BBC iPlayer, but has not yet aired on BBC One – in which the final scenes of leaving actor Roland Manookian are revealed.

EastEnders viewers have been on tenterhooks waiting to hear what the future has in store for Teddy Mitchell ever since he copped to murdering drug dealer Okie last month. In a desperate attempt to protect Harry, Teddy confessed to the stabbing his son had committed… even pleading guilty to stop the police from asking too many difficult questions.

Fans had hoped that Teddy might somehow escape a stretch behind bars, but sadly, this wasn’t the case. And, with the BBC confirming actor Roland Manookian’s exit from the soap, it seems as though Teddy’s trial is a foregone conclusion.

As EastEnders announces that Roland Manookian is leaving the soap, Teddy’s fate is finally revealed

As today’s episode begins, Teddy nervously awaits his day in court. Meanwhile, back in Walford, George and Gina successfully track down Harry.

After he tells her about how he killed Okie, she and George convince him to attend Teddy’s trial. He arrives just as the judge shares Teddy’s sentence… and the news isn’t good.

Harry, Barney and Nicola (plus Zack, who’s there to support his son) look on in horror as the judge sentences Teddy to 20 years behind bars. A distraught Harry stands up and tries to take the blame, but he’s hushed by both Teddy and Nicola.

Growing worried, Gina sets off in search of Harry again. She finds him passed out and struggling to breathe, having suffered another devastating overdose.

Will Harry survive his latest brush with death?
