EastEnders fans confused by 'plot holes' as Jay calls Julie about Nigel

Fans of EastEnders have been left confused by recent ‘plot holes’ following Jay Brown‘s call to Julie last night (Monday, July 14). Having grown concerned about Nigel after hearing him talk about his marriage, Jay decided that Julie should be told about his dementia.

As Nigel explained soon after arriving back in Walford, he’d chosen to leave Julie so as not to be a burden on his wife. This means that she has no idea where he is – nor where he’d gone – and knows nothing about his dementia diagnosis.

Phil tried to change the subject, convincing him to let things lie. However, after speaking to Yolande, Callum and Kat, Jay was more determined than ever to do the right thing.

Having done some research, he soon learned that Julie was actively looking for Nigel too. On social media, he found a number of posts from Julie desperately searching for information. He then called Julie, letting her know exactly where Nigel is.

And, as the soap returns to screens today (Tuesday, July 15), Julie finally arrives on Albert Square in search of answers. How will she react when she finds Nigel living with Phil? And will she understand his decision to leave?

All important things, but to some, the whole thing didn’t make sense.

Fans point out ‘plot holes’ in Julie search for Nigel

As last night’s scenes aired, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Julie’s imminent return. And while many thought Jay’s call was the right thing to do, other wondered what Julie had been doing all this time.

“You’re telling me that for all this time Julie reported Nigel missing and never bothered to check the very place they met each other?” asked one fan on X.

“One thing I’m a bit confused about with Nigel and Julie is why, when she’s clearly very concerned about him being missing, she hasn’t thought to check Walford or get in touch with anyone there. She knows them, you’d cover every possibility if your husband is missing,” pointed out another.

“I’m actually surprised Julie hasn’t called the police to report Nigel missing. Like he could be dead for all she knows,” another agreed.

Why has it taken Julie so long to get to Walford?
